If he did fight him he would use his John Ruiz like tactics and people on here would praise him for being 'crafty' and a 'veteran' :rofl:patsch

If that was a reference to my post Kev you got me wrong. Kovalev is my favourite fighter at the moment alongside GGG and perhaps Matthysse. I'm just - I don't know - kinda doing a what if? Kov is so dominant, so irresistable. Surely no-one can do that in every fight... or maybe Kovalev can?

It's more like - I've seen so many build ups, and let downs. This might sound silly but GGGs like a damn certainty. No one gets excited over when the tide comes in. Kovalevs a bit like the bet you sweat over cos you ain't quite 100% - and more exciting for it.

Agreed. And this is the wrong kind of fighter for Hopkins at this stage. Too busy, too strong.

Don't you think Kovalev fought ''loose'' yesterday cuz he knew White had nothing for him? He just went in there for a quick win.

Bhop needs to fight his mandatory, which is kovalev, or give up the belt. Yes, it would be a duck. Doesn't matter how old he is he has the belt. Guys like Walcott and Moore never backed down from a challenge and neither should poppy, if he has the stones. But,this BS cherry-picking that goes on today only hurts the sport. If hopkins refuses to fight him he should retire in shame. I am not convinced hopkins couldn't pull it off though, kovalev is raw.

Hopkins won't take this fight. Will get KTFO by a "white boy".

Thing is he seems to treat every fight like that. If you look at GGG say, he'll spend a round or two feeling his opponents out. Patient, methodical, seeing what they've got then breaking them down.

With Kovalev it's like he doesn't care who's in front of him. He comes out swinging, and when his bombs start landing his opponents get rocked - whatever fight plans they might have had just seem to dribble outta their ears. It seems almost reckless to me, but it's fukkin working for him isn't it? And it's great to watch.

We've just seen him smash 2 legit top 10s around like they were being paid to make him look good.

Bernard Hopkins can't duck anyone. The man is 48 years old and has 59 fights. Bernard Hopkins has earned the right to face those he sees fit and to let others just walk their way. Asking if he'll duck someone is just ridiculous, what next? Is he also ducking the cruiserweight fighters?

What if Hopkins had the IBN interim title and Kovalev was the mandatory challenger for that title?

Hopkins is way bigger than the belt he holds. Hopkins gives the title credibility not vice versa. Hopkins could relinquish his title tomorrow, nobody could care less he'd still be Bernard Hopkins.

You can't have it both ways, saying a pushing 50 Hopkins would still beat anybody but that at the same time his seniority allows him to pick and choose who he wants to from Cloud to Karo Murat.

I don't think this fight will happen. Hop will fight in September from what I hear . The Kovalev fight must happen until February , so he will have time
