Looking at Kovalev's record so far, he's the one that's been ducking. See some pretty big names on BHop's record ... Kova, not so much. Not exactly a who's who of boxing on his ledger, I'd say he's ducked quite a few contenders so far.
Yep, you've definitely never seen a single Bernard Hopkins fight if you really think its THAT easy to beat him.
Good one. Who do you have in mind? Not like Main Events is black listed by either of TR or GBP, so... who has he ducked exactly?
not quite, KWill: @therealbhop I respect n accept the IBF decision.. I see this guy is good!! I look forward to defending my title
Props to Bhop if it gets made. Will be a very tough challenge for both though I've gotta favour Kovalev unless Bhop truly has got some of that ol' alien DNA. Hoping Kov isn't overawed, and BHop will have the advantage of that big fight experience - but I've feel Kovs power and combos'll be to much for Hopkins. edit. Just read that Yahoo article, but there's also this from Dan Rafael: ********espn.go.com/blog/dan-rafael/post/_/id/4399/hopkins-would-face-kovalev-but Implying possible network issues. I did a long post yesterday wondering how that'd pan out with the Clev offer and HBOs intrest in Kov. In fact building Kov a bit more and putting a unification on the line makes a lot of sense for both financially as long as long as the IBF play ball. Bhop's also gotta be more heavily favoured against Stevenson than Kovalev and stands to gain the lineal title.
Hmm..looks like Murat's got his visa sorted, gonna apply to be reinstated. Wonder which way the IBF gonna jump, clearly Kovs the top guy now. Wonder if there was anything dodgy 'bout that visa delay.. Without Murat in picture, suddenly a few new big fights have opened up. Bhops talking Stevenson, with Kov vs Clev then a belt and lineal unifier. Curious.
Perhaps??? Hopkins versus Stevenson. Cleverly against someone in the WBO top 15. Kovalev vacant IBF challenge. I think Kovalev if he's given a fair crack could win any belt at 175lbs he chooses. He has a good team, let's hope they make the best decision. The worst he can do is organise another quick fight to solidify his rankings with all governing bodies. That way if people don't play ball he can force champions to vacate. Cleverly should have Braehmer coming up shortly?, so he may well be tied up until 2014?
bernard acting like hes interested in fighting kovalov is bull****.bernard will never fight kovalov and everyone knows it.bernard knows that boy would spank the **** out of him.or should i say that whiteboy would spank the **** out of him.
Could work. It'd be easier to see the big picture without F Ws (and the IBFs) smoke. would be then maybe: Kovalev - Murat. A title fight which builds either fighters (kovalevs) rep. Hopkins - Stevenson. Tho. Bhop would have to drop the IBF belt (unless, of course, it's managed so Kov. refuses the contest) Cleverly - Braemer Then a K/M vs C/B unifier. Then the lineal championship. That brings in an extra fight before a final lineal and belt unifier. Much more $s for all involved, due both to the extra events and extra prestige of the later fights. Could work. Sounds good on paper. It's the most probable plan I've heard so far. Depends on the politics in the meantime I guess but def. sounds a possibility.
All you bums are gonna be mad when: #1: Hopkins KO's Kovalev and a statue in Philly finally gets made. #2: Bad Chad comes back.
Ain't gonna be mad. Bhops already deserves a statue. Tbh I could even imagine him tying up Kovalev for the PTS (though I think he's past his KO days)- but fukkin hell the ol' *******s gotta get done sometime, surely? An' I'd be more than happy for Sad Chad to find his 'B' - LHWs smokin' hot at the moment and would be even better with Chad as part of the mix. :good Man, I love the boxers, but I love the boxing more.
