Will big nog rely on his bjj the exact same amount vs schaub as he did in ufc & pride

I think Nog has relied more on his boxing in the UFC than he did in Pride. But the KO defeats to Mir and Velasquez tell me that maybe Nog's best shot of beating a puncher like Schaub is to try and take the fight to the ground as early and as often as possible, and try and grapple his way to a sub. At this point in Nog's career, I think even a fighter as limited as Schaub would probably tool him standing up, but on the ground it'd be Nog's fight alright.

What do you think, will Nog try to win this one by boxing again, or do you think he'll go back to having a gameplan based on winning the fight on the deck?

(I hope it's the latter, the sight of one of the greatest fighters ever getting ****ed up by Brendan ****ing Schaub is not a sight I care to see)

    :bbb

Punches have taken their toll on his reflexes, footwork, hand co-ordination and his chin. I think it's highly unlikely he'll be able to close the distance to get the clinch and his preferred trip, and obviously he has no shot to speak of

He'll get tagged eventually, Im just going to have to restrain myself when Goldy says ''Schaub's beaten another legend'' from throwing my dog at the TV

I think Nog will try to box him and that'll be his downfall. Schaub is an average striker by the standards of the heavyweight division, but he's not afraid to engage and look for the knock-out. Combine that with good power, and a major speed advantage over Nog (both hands & feet) and I see this as a knockout win for Schaub. Even if he goes for the takedown Schaub should stuff it easily with superior strength and reflexes.

Yeah, this fight is definitely going to the ground........when Nog crumples to the mat like a puppet with the strings cut.

You act as if Zak invented the term "Glass Jaw". It's been used to describe chinny boxers since nearly the beginning of the sport along with other derogatory terms like bum, can, chump, etc. It's only the pussification of modern fans, who for whatever reason feel the need to "respect" all these guys merely because they get their brains abused and we're entertained by it, who have decided that calling a spade a spade and a Fragile Mandible a Fragile Mandible is somehow terrible and trolling.

I don't have to be respectful of any fighter because they're not doing it for me, they're doing it for a paycheck BECAUSE I'm interested enough to tune in thereby giving them an avenue to make money without a real job. Therefore, regardless of what Zak, Rico, or any other Chinchecker decides to say, I'm going to use the terms China Chin and Glass Jaw. It's not rehashing a "gimmick", who cares if it's disrespectful, it's truth. Glass Jaws Exist and we will discuss them. Ignore it or join in on the fun.

If it's a gimmick to "troll" everybody then why in the **** do we have our own forum, as well? Are we trolling each other when we discuss Mandibular Fortitude? We're really just a band of hardcore boxing fans who feel compelled to educate all of these fools and trolls who refuse to accept that Glass Jaws exist and hate when we point out their heroes' flaws.

You are a blatant denier that Glass Gimmicks exist in forums and as leader and only member of Team Bestul it is our manifesto to educate these believers in Glass Gimmicks on the MMA sub forum that they are in denial about their irrelevant repetitive gimmickry :deal

So either join in or ignore Team Bestul, but the undeniable fact remains

I disagree with the general notion behind this thread. Nog has always boxed his opponents. Go back and watch his fights in Pride - he punched whenever he was standing and rarely shot for a takedown unless it was against a freak of nature like Bob Sapp.

Skybet have Big Nog by KO/TKO @ 19.0 if anyone is interested.

So ridiculously underpriced I had to put a few quid on, despite what I've written above.
