Will big nog rely on his bjj the exact same amount vs schaub as he did in ufc & pride

If a fighter doesn't punch when he is standing, that's the ringpost or the referee you're looking at, not a fighter.

Nog's fights in the UFC: 5. Wins by submission: 1. (20%)

Nog's fights in Pride: 21. Wins by submission: 11. (>50%)

I think Nog focused more on BJJ in his Pride days, and I think he focuses more on stand-up in his UFC days.

You can disagree and bore me with another reply, but I'll just stick to the facts and most probably not bother responding. I've made my point.

 

Yawn. Someone find me a post where I said Nog bum-bumped round the canvas like Aoki in Pride, and I'll admit I'm wrong. Never said anything of the sort at any point. If I watch Nog in Pride, I see a helluva lot more groundwork going on than I see in his UFC fights. That was my point, and as usual it's correct despite the ultra-pedantic drama queens of the MMA forum continuing their eternal boring oneupmansship quests. Yawn. Yawn. Yawn again. :dead

 

You evidently haven't seen as much of Nogueira in Pride as I have.

Pride 19, Nogueira fights the smaller Enson Inoue, a guy I firmly believe he could've demolished on the feet, but Nog chose to engage him on the ground for the entire fight, and got the submission win.

The UFC version of Nog would NEVER choose to grapple the entire fight with a smaller, weaker, inferior fighter like Inoue.

As usual, the ultra-pedantic drama queens of the MMA forum's quest for oneupmansship fails because the motive is never genuine debate, but always "I don't like this guy so I'll stick my deformed nose in" or "I don't care if I'm right but I really want to be more right than this guy".

Same old. Check out Nog vs Inoue next time you take a breather between threads about "Mandibular Fortitude" or any of the other ancient recycled troll **** you spread about this board.

So you haven't seen the Inoue fight then? Didn't think so.

I've never seen Nog once approach a fight in the UFC the way he approached that fight.

I also never seen him achieve anywhere near the same ratio of subs in the UFC as compared to Pride.

Therefore, I feel comfortable saying that Nog relied more on his BJJ in Pride.

(despite the fact he never grapples for whole fights now nor is anywhere near as successful with his subs)



Hopefully the MMA Forum pedantic extremists have now been satisfied, can relax, let the blood pressure subside, and talk about the likelihood of Nog successfully pulling off a sub tonight, or indeed anything more interesting than the content of the last page.
