BJ is going to have to pull a shogun vs machida 2 and just go out to finish it.
    No scorecards.

yea i think he'll do that and win. I doubt it will be a knockout but i think he will submit him via rear naked choke.

An enormous difference between those two rematches. One was years apart and this one, around 6 months.

I am so backing Edgar again. BJ did nothing to win the first fight and I seriously don't think its gonna be a "Penn Revenge" tale, he honestly does not seem interested.

Besides, I ****ing hate Penn. He's a right knobjockey, it'd be nice to have a change in champion, there's only been like 3 lightweight champions anyway, plus it'll allow Florian to get another shot, whom I think'll beat Edgar. Fingers crossed he beats Maynard anyway, if he faces Penn or Edgar I will be very disappoint, especially if he wins.

    Seems pretty interested to me.

I find it hard to pick against BJ, even after the first fight. I'm not too bothered who wins either way tbh. All the bull**** that comes out of BJs mouth has put me off him. Still enjoy watching him fight though, so I'm just gonna enjoy this one as a neutral.

Yes but the same penn will be there but this time he will be motivated to regain his title. I think he underestimated edgar the first time like many of us fans did. I didn't think edgar had any chance of winning the first fight. Bj should be ready this time and im sure he will go for the takedown and put edgar to sleep. :thumbsup

If Penn wasn't motivated to retain his title or underestimated a top contender then he's just a plain moron. This isn't 1997 in the UFC. We're in 2010. We've got some serious Mixed Martial Artists with some tremendous skills now. B.J. isn't the only one...he should have earned his rematch and not have been given it. He lost, plain as day and I couldn't care less about his excuses...I wasn't movitated or I underestimated (not in quotations because I don't believe he's (publically) said those things) is complete garbage and if that's true then you deserve to lose it. **** him.

I will agree that a lot of what he says sounds like bitterness and excuses, but it's the part where he's saying he dislikes Frankie, can't wait for the fight etc that's making me think he wants this. He sounds a bit angry to me.

We're just speculating really though. Guess we'll have to wait and see. I hope he is motivated, because regardless of whether he is a **** or not he is great to watch when he is on his game.

I think penn has done enough to earn a rematch. Who the hell is he gonna fight next?

florian who he already beat? Stevenson? Gomi? Maynard?

UFC is putting maynard to fight florian because they don't think he can beat penn so they'll put him against florian who is arguably the 3rd best lightweight in the ufc to see if he has a shot against penn.

Maynard has done more to earn a title fight then B.J. ever has.

    Stevenson? No.

    Gomi? No.

Florian? Yup. He's actually earned it.

lol let me put it this way. Penn already beat the top contenders in the lightweight division.
    http://www.profighting-fans.com/rankings/ufc-lightweight-rankings.html
Here's the current rankings at 155
    1.Edgar
    2.Penn
    3.Maynard
    4.Florian
    # 1 vs # 2 and #3 vs # 4 winner fights each other. So if your boy maynard can beat florian then he gets a title shot.

    Rankings...

And of course Penn already beat the top contenders. He's been fighting them and didn't have to do what 90% of other fighters have to do: work your way up!

Maynard is undefeated! Florian has quite a few more wins in the Lightweight Division then B.J. does and he's been beating very, very good guys, too. Penn's record isn't exactly stellar. His best win at Lightweight is either Sean Sherk or Kenny Florian. I'd say it's Florian. Whoopie. What a record for the "Greatest". (Don't get me wrong, Florian is a hell of a win, especially the more recent Florian, but for someone who is professed to be the greatest ever...his resume is remarkably thin...and certainly not deserving of an immediate rematch when you have two very, very good contenders who have been waiting...)

:patsch are you freaking serious? bj penn has paid his dues. He has fought the best lightweights possible. Ever heard of Caol Uno? Matt Serra? Takanori Gomi? in his prime not the gomi now.

He beat them all then you add diego sanchez-sean sherk-kenny florian-joe stevenson to that list and tell me who has a better resume at 155 than him. The reason his getting a rematch so quickly is because he already beat the top contenders.

Uno? Serra? Gomi? No, who are they?

Paid his dues...huh. Relative to how long he's been in the sport, he seems to have accomplished (again) relatively little in the Lightweight division.

Penn began his MMA career in May of 2001 at UFC 31 against Joey Gilbert. And since then he has fought exactly 13 times in the Lightweight division in over 9 years.

Kenny Florian began fighting at Lightweight in the UFC in June of 2006 against Sam Stout. And since then he has fought exactly 11 times in the Lightweight Division in just over 4 years.

Even a blind man could see a drastic difference. You can make all the blah blah you want about B.J. doing this and that...bottom line, in his division, the Lightweight division, he's a severe underachiever and fights from nearly a decade ago shouldn't warrant a rematch, otherwise the title picture wouldn't be the most exciting thing in the world...

    Make sense?
