I went through alot of the Calzaghe retirement threads, and that's pretty much the impression I got. Sorry if that bothers you.

Yes, I will never watch another fight because of Calzaghe's retirement. The sport dies with Calzaghe.

  3. No it doesn't bother me, it just seems a bit of a generalisation and one that I disagree with. No offence intended. It's all about opinions.

No one in Britain will miss him. He wasnt as popular as fighters of years gone by. The only reason why he got any air time was the media hype surrounding his big name bouts in the lata stages of his career.

60,000 people in one stadium. Not popular? They all turned up because of 'media hype'?

Warren used to the pack the M.E.N with those same "fans". They wouldnt know the diffrence between Joe Calzaghe and Frank Bruno.

Joe you remember. He just flew accross the pond to beat two of your greatest of all time. Come on man think. Retired undefeated. Champion for 11 years. Bringing back any memories.

For your information Wales is a country with more pride than you could imagine. We have more history than England our own language and less people than live in the city of London which is 6 million so forgive me for taking offence at your comment considering a boxing expert would have a couple of Welshmen in their all time list.

    exactly!

  13. EASTSIDEboxing wont be the same.... I believe Joe's retirement day should be a day of silence on ESB... In memory of the man most responsible for the use of bandwith on ESB...

To be honest calzaghe was number one pound for pound. Not taking anything from pacman but calzaghe has a higher work rate and his undefeated streak amongst other things gave him top spot in my books.
Calzaghe was the one who introduced me to boxing when i first saw him fight when i was 5 against Eubank and that led me to see roy jones, lenox lewis, Delahoya, holyfield, tyson yada yada yada.
But im not going to quit now hes retired cos theres a butt load of fighters out there who i love like Enzo mac despite his knockout to haye is back and better than ever, Clever boy is young, fresh and interesting, Dawson even tho i felt glen was robbed looks a good one aswell as pacman, hitman, mosley, cotto, haye, kessler, the klitschko's yada yada yada blah blah blah.
But good luck to joe and i know its unlikely but look out for my name if i ever turn pro haha.
