So how didn't he look like total ****, cowering with his hands up getting beaten on for most of the fight? He looked awful, and then he followed it up with an awful performance with Kali Meehan, too.
I'm no doctor, but I'd say he's had sufficient time to recover. A tune-up fight would probably make sense, but the point was he was off for a similar amount of time before the last Wlad fight and won. So arguing that he should have had a tune-up before this fight doesn't hold much water, IMO.
Thats just how Brewster fights. Brewster is not going to outbox anybody at this level, lets be honest. Brewster is a power fighter who has historically taken alot of punishment, even in victory.
It may be his style, but it doesn't make his performances good. He was nearly crushed in his first fight and he's going to get crushed in this one. No offense to Brewster, I think he's a great guy, but I never bet on a guy whose MO is to take a beating in an effort to win a fight with a knockout.
I, too, would find it hard to put my money on Brew. But I would bet that the fight was going to be good, because of his style. Remember the Krasniqi fight?
Fantastic life and death fight, yeah. My thoughts on this topic, though, are that it's a complete unknown whether or not Brewster is okay, but I don't think the signs are good. He could have suffered from some partial, permanent blindness from his injury. We can't say yes or no, though, because he hasn't said anything about it. I certainly hope he's not just doing this just for a payday, but he hasn't done anything to help me out.
Usually styles like that make for great fights, IMO. Like Hatton for example. (KO4 Castillo) And other brawlers like mickey ward (i forgot who it was, but he was completely losing, and he KO'd the guy with his left hook from hell to ther liver)
Was that the Reggie Green/Mickey Ward fight? I remember Mickey being behind late and pulling a knockout out of thin air to win it.
My thinking is that Brewster may not be the same after the beating Liakovich gave him. He looks out of shape to me too. Wlad ko 5.
I dont think its a quick buck there are champions now out there that Brewster can easily beat, Maskaev for one, I think Lamon is taking this fight becuase to him this is not only a very winnable fight, but its the kind of fight that when he does win it, he will be considered the best HW champion of the four. Brewster will win this fight IMO, he has the mental edge going in, Wlad has panic attacks when he is pressured, lets see how this plays out, Yes I agree Lamon has took some punishment since their first fight, But Wlad has also been dropped since then as well, three times by peter (Legal or not they still did damage) and he was dropped by Williamson. if Wlad comes into this fight scared its over and over fast.
I think he really will be trying. It's a very big chance to become champion again. It's too big to reject it for a tune-up fight, regardless of what the result will be. The question is if the lay-off has been good or bad for Brewster. A break doesn't neccessarily mean a disadvantage. Often, sportsmen achieve their best performance after a break, because the body can fully recover and the mind can fully process mental issues. Only that Brewster must be in shape. If so, I consider him ready for that fight.
