A true, unquestioned ATG, ill list our current candidates and tell you why in a lot of peoples eyes they don't qualify. The question is do you ever think we will have a fighter that totally dominates the sport, a guy like Floyd Mayweather, who no-one questions as a top ATG?

Lennox Lewis - Never Fought Bowe, Holyfield or Tyson in thier primes. Losses to two Journeymen.

Ricky Hatton - Horrible loss to Mayweather, will probably get anhialated vs pac man. Only one good win on his record really

Joe Calzaghe - Never fought the best fighters of his generation until they were really old.

Benn & Eubank - Neither truly dominated thier division at the time, both have multiple losses

Naseem Hamed - Looked awful agains Barrera, totally outclassed.

Lennox is an ATG - none of the men listed above wanted to fight him. Avenged both losses by KO

    Hatton - toughie, British ATG

    Calzaghe - ditto

Benn & Eubank - never got the chance to fight Jones/Toney etc. Who knows what would happen

    Hamed - totally agree

Benn and Eubank have multiple losses?

Doesn't harm Ali and SRR in the all time greats list does it?

Anyway we could have an ATG, hell if calzaghe were to fight 2-3 more times against good opponents he would be one, if he isnt already.

You realise Jimmy Wilde and Bob Fitzsimmons are cast iron top 50 greats on any well thought out list? The latter could even make 25.

I'm pretty sure most people would have Lewis in there, considering by consensus he's a top 5 heavy.

Overall Britain seems to be struggling for many in the modern era, agreed. It's difficult to find a case for Hamed, Eubank or Benn and even if you did it would be a paper thin argument that could be easily argued the other way. Certainly not unquestionable.

Lennox Lewis and Jimmy Wilde are ATG, by any reasonable definition.

In terms of modern greats Lennox Lewis is certainly one.

Much avoided, and he sought out the best competition in his time and beat them.

You could make a case for him ducking fighters - but it's extremely weak. For the most part they ducked him.

Other than him - yeah, you've got your job cut out for you :deal.

    Nigel Benn battered G-Man.
That victory in my opinion is just a good a scalp as Toney would have been

he possibly means from his own lifetime, as there are no boxers listed from before the mid 80s

    I'm presuming you mean modern greats;

    Lewis - ATG no issues.

Calzaghe - potentially ATG for me it depends on Kessler and how his career pans out. British ATG easy

Hatton - at the moment not an ATG. But if he can resurrect his career under Floyd Snr and then go on to fight (and beat) Pac then he jumps a big way. Potentially opening a door for a rematch with Floyd Jr. A lot of ifs and buts but I'm a man of faith ;)

Benn - difficult one. Ability to be ATG but didnt get the chance against the right opponents at the right time. But a win over Barkley is a good win over a good boxer.

Eubank - similar to above, replace Barkley with G-man

    Naz - not. a. chance.

    Apparently.

    We just need more monkeys.
