Will Broner be more exciting than Mayweather?

Okay, the comparisons to Floyd are obvious and we know he's still in the developmental stage as a fighter he's 21-22 so it shouldn't really be a surprise he won't execute moves Floyd can do on the fly or with little effort. But because he's still in this stage do you think he'd be forced to fight more offensively thus making him more fan friendly? He already is a better showman than Floyd outta the ring, but can he be more exciting? Floyd didn't look too bad vs Ortiz before the epic drama unfolded he actually didn't look too shabby and didn't look boring to me when he was taking Ortiz apart. At this point who would you choose as the more exciting fighter?

Depends on what you call exciting. He appears to have more pop than Floyd did even at 130 where he wasn't feather fisted, so if you like KOs then yes, you'll probably find him more exciting. Also, he's a good boxer but he's not on the level of a Mayweather in a technical sense, so I imagine that his fights will be closer and therefore more drama and excitement involved. I think Floyd is plenty exciting, however, just because it is great to watch a fighter with an old school slick style that epitomizes pure technique.

    Potentially yes.

He's funnier than Mayweather. He goes for the KO more too.

Although mayweather was more exciting when he was broners age also, so maybe broner will go down the same path.

:deal Exactly. I don't expect Broner to be a mirror image of Floyd, but he does have the potential to be as popular or somewhere close to it. I hope he only borrows Floyd's style, but he becomes his own person. I sense alot of negativity with American boxing as of late and Broner can be the next American superstar.

Even though PBF is my favorite, I already think Broner is the more exciting.

Never really saw Floyd go after, and finish someone like Broner.

I'm not sayin it's weak, but I just feel American boxing has been on the slide as of late and right now I think is a golden opportunity for Broner to take advantage of it. Fighters like Hopkins, Ward, Bradley, and Andre Dirrell as much as I enjoy watching their fights I know they ain't fan friendly and a fighter that has both the skills AND is exciting to watch that is a double whammy and is a successful formula. Would be nice to have a skillful, exciting American fighter in the top 10 p4p. So far Rios and Viloria are the only other Americans that may be next to crack the top 10 in the future.

In the ring, let us not forget PBF was very offensive minded in his lower weight class. During his climb to welter, I think he realized that a) his power was not translating well enough and b) the punches from the naturally bigger fighters had more impact. This is where he decided defense first to a UD is just perfectly fine for him. He wins and gets paid.

Right now, Broner has the power to keep 130 fighters honest. We don't know if his power will be good in the heavier weight class. He might end up like Pac and retain his power thus allow him to keep his current style or go with PBF and adjust in order to have longevity.

Outside of the ring, he is definitely more articulate and dynamic than PBF. I don't like the choke out, think that is pretty cheap and neanderthal-ish. His "can" was much better (people already love to quote it). Hopefully, he will not go with the PBF route of doing personal attacks to "sell" the fights.

He has all the right ingredients to be a super star. What kind of star that is will be entirely up to him.

I never thought Floyd was boring anyway so it's hard to say. Broner is exciting but is miles behind floyds technical ability at that age.

Broner was the star of the show last weekend and he's definatly more exciting than floyd was at that age in terms of showmanship and cockyness.

He's like a black Naseem Hamed on that score

But even at SFW, Floyd did not have the one punch power of Broner. Broner has virtually knocked out cold, his last 3 opponents.

You can just look at Broner(his build),and see him fighting, that he is probably stronger and punches harder than Floyd when he was SFW.

Floyd is much more of the sweet science. I can see Broner's fighting style(and results) being more exiting to "casual fans".

Dude is on regular HBO, Floyd has been a PPV star for the better part of a whole decade.

Calm your horses please, this **** is getting ridiculous.

I don't think Floyd is boring in the ring anyway.

The constant comparisons of these two will just drive Broner to copy Money May more and more, something that he should pipe down on.

Well PBF threw a lot more combinations at the lower weight class. It is hard to judge the true strength of Broner's punches. His previous 2 KOs where not one big punch more like 2 solid punched that connected well. He is not like slipping his punch in and KO'ing them. He hits them pretty solid 1-2 combo. Many fighters can get a KD with a decent 1-2 combo.
But at the same time I can see the argument that P4P he might have more power than PBF. But you can also argue he might be built bigger and we just don't know how it will translate at 140 or 147.

And it is not only physical but mental. He might wake up someday and say, "Hey I don't want to be Gatti and walk around pizza face, I want to put more emphasize on defense".
This does not mean he will be the defensive genius like PBF but he can end up being a more passive offense, thus "boring" to some.

Right now at 130 he is exiting. He talks, he moves and he punches. That is all you can ask from a 22 year old rising star. At 27? We will have to wait.
