Let's be blunt...Usyk has had no competition as the best in boxing. None.

Now, I don't think much of Canelo, and certainly not this version, but there is no doubt that this is a huge achievement for Bud Crawford. And yes, there is talk of him being the best of this generation.

Might this light the fire under Usyk to stop talking about Fury III, Joshua III, Chisora II and Alex Periera, and sign to fight the winner of Wardley-Parker sooner rather than later? I always though he'd get around to it in his time anyway, but I would think he would look at this and realize that the time is now if he want's to defend his real title of PfP the best!

Usyk himself has said Crawford is the best fighter in the world. I don't think this will motivate him.

Usyk has already called Bud the best boxer

And legacy wise there really isn't anything more Usyk can do after what he did at CW and HW perhaps outside an Itauma win but even that is a win that will need to age well and we won't know for years.

He's a gracious man, though. But now, I think he's got something to really think about.

There are so many opinions, but personally, Usyk's feats are definitely more impressive than Terence's somewhat impressive result.
Ultimately, Crawford wasn't even a smaller fighter than Alvarez. He was lighter and less muscular, but also taller and had a longer reach.
Usyk beat guys 10 cm taller, with a reach advantage of almost 20 cm...
And when Usyk faced Joshua or Fury, I had no idea if he would ultimately win. In the case of the Alvarez vs. Crawford fight, I was almost certain Canelo would be outplayed, and watching the fight itself, I wasn't even once worried that something might go differently.
Terence is fantastic, but it's certainly not safe to say he outshone Usyk...

whats he gonna do to swing it back to him? parker nor wardly move the needle in a significant way. bud is the man until he loses. he was already largely interchangeable with usyk on the list, and he just had the biggest win of his career.

Parker adds something. Being a former titlist with some very good wins, he's not a "great," per se, but he has a legacy of his own.

I honestly think he is the last guy out there who could be a meaningful win. After that, it is just adding numbers rather than names.

Maybe Opetaia if that came off somehow.

    No

Heavyweights are in a different category than all other fighters

The pound for pound logic doesn't apply for them because they can beat everyone

Pound for pound is the antithesis of the heavyweight champion

Usyk is obviously the best boxer in the world from a head to head standpoint no weight restrictions standing

yes, but as another poster pointed out previously, we would have to wait until opetaia completes a successful career in order to become significant. unfortunately usyk lacks the proven talent to compete against in order to gain the top spot. not his fault, but thats where were at right now.
now things could change if bud gets beat down in his next fight. then perception would be that canelo was not the achievement it appeared to be. but as it stands, bud is the man at least til his next fight.

Any heavyweight who feels they have to prove themselves as "better than" a middleweight probably needs their head looked at.

'Pound for pound' is stupid. Fans need to stop buying into it

Financially, a heavyweight might occasionally see himself in competition with little guys or even pop stars or businessmen . But it makes no sense in boxing for a 225 pound heavyweight champ to worry about a 155 or 165 pound boxer being better boxer.

Crawford is welcome to prove this all wrong by moving up to heavyweight.

If he beats Parker and Itauma say, and they go on to rule the division, Itauma especially could rule the division for a generation then that would definitely add to his legacy.

Will Crawford's victory light a fire in his fans asses and imbue one of them with the courage to answer these questions

How many times has his massive weight bully ass fought someone who weighed 10lbs more than him or even just 5lbs more?

And how many times has he been at a reach disadvantage?

How many punchers has he fought, especially his size?

How many times has he fought outside his home country in 42 fights?

How many world champs did he beat in their backyards or on the road?

And how many times did foreign world champions bring their belts to his country?

And how many times has he had home refs and home judges?

You're not going to like those answers, Crawford fans

Literal night and day to what Usyk has been doing

How silly boxing, and this forum can be at times, I thought you were suggesting him fight Bud for a sec!

And Usyk is extremely humble, geniuses. He's never going to say he's #1

He explained this when discussing his faith

He said AJ and Belly were better than him after beating both x 2
