Will Caleb Plant be a harder or easier opponent for Canelo than Saunders?

I felt similarly about the Truax fight. I think, however, that Plant was exceedingly confident and perhaps overly comfortable against the aging vet. Plant may be one of those fighters who performs best in the "eye of the storm" as it were (kid was dynamite in first 6-7 rounds against Uzi, including dropping him).

I'm looking forward to finding out.

I try not to go what is starting to become my gimmick of "lol super middleweight division garbage" but it just flat out is. Canelo will go through Caleb like a hot knife through butter. The super middleweight division is just flat-out not good, and the few guys who DO have talent spent their careers avoiding each other like the plague while waiting for the Redhead Sweepstakes. I don't care how big and long and technically sound and defensively responsible Caleb Plant is; it means a grand total of nothing when he's never held himself to the fire.

Say what you want about Canelo purposely stacking the deck in his favor (he does) but he steps in the ring with guys who were at least supposed to be dangerous for him to fight.

BJS 2.0 vs Clenelo at 160 is a very different fight. BJS 2.0 is a MW and he looked like garbage up at 168 and Clenelo who seems to get more thick-set and muscular everytime he fights was just too big, strong and powerful for him at that weight and subsequently was able to walk through everything coming back at him and that was the decisive factor. It terms of skill BJS 2.0 was more than able to hold his own but the power, strength and size of Clenelo was too much. All those years of indiscipline, not living and training right and stuffing his face with junk food 24/7/365 and fighting at the lower level didn't help either.

Plant is naturally bigger than BJS 2.0 and is 6'1'' with a 74'' reach but, like BJS 2.0 whose last four fights going into the Clenelo match were Charles Adamu, Shefat Ifusi, Marcelo Coceres, and a 38 y/o way past it Martin Murray, he has been mixing in poor company. His last four fights are Uzecat (decent fighter but nothing more), Subway Mike Lee, Vincent Feigenbutz, and a shot Caleb Truax who was merely decent even when prime.

I think Clenelo might struggle with Plant's slick style for a while but ultimately will prove to be too big, strong, experienced and hard hitting for him too and will walk through his pity pats and take him out.

Like I keep saying, 168 is a graveyard division with the exception of Benavidez and Bek The Bully and the later is just a 7-0 prospect.

Up until just over six months ago The Ring magazine's #1 fighter's only claim to fame was getting his ass paddled by John Ryder and beating a past prime one-armed George Groves who was coming off shoulder surgery just seven months earlier and who should not of been in a ring so soon after surgery. Don't forget that fight wasn't only for Smith's WBA title, which he should've categorically lost to Ryder in his previous fight, but Clenelo's fairy godfather Mauricio decided to put the belt he stripped from Benavidez on the line too so Clenelo got to win two belts in one go against a fighter who lost their previous fight to John Ryder in almost everyone's eyes lol.

BJS was badly hurt by Isufi, went life and death against Coceres who was ahead by two rounds on one of the judge's cards (and many on here had him behind on points too) prior to stopping his man in round 11.

And by far Plant's best win Uzecat lost to 25-5 Lionell Thompson 11 months later

Easier. If slow Caleb truax can land those right counters , canelo instill fear in him once he lands.

He's the last hope at 168...

It might not be conscious, but there's a good chance there's people overrating him just because they don't really want to see Canelo undisputed.

Some might genuinely rate Plant, but I honestly can't see why - BJS was a much trickier opponent even with the rust, this won't be too difficult for Canelo I don't think.

Saunders barely won two rounds in my scorecard. Plant can win more until (T)KO.

harder. just on heart alone he will make it more difficult. bjs started to curl up quickly when the pressure was raised. i dont think plant will. i think it goes about 10, with plant enduring significant damage, but showing he still got fight in him, and scoring himself. this is if plant can handle the overhand rights canelo will be dropping on him repeatedly due to his defensive stance. he may not be able to handle them and fold early. if he does adjust, then a hook to the body will drop him for good.

Plant is sort of what Saunders fans hoped Saunders would be without mental/physical erosion from the sky high heights they fancied him at just the two years prior to Canelo facing him.

I think they are very much at the same level with the slight edge to Plant in this context for size alone.

Plant will do better he is a natural 168 I also think that he is more in his prime than BJS
Wouldn't surprise me if it goes the distance with Canelo winning a 7-5 8-4 type of fight

I really don't see anything in Plant that would give Canelo trouble.
