will Callum Smith turn out to be just another Rocky Fielding?

Possible. Smith beat a couple of European guys convincingly and struggled with better guys like a shot Groves or Ryder. Fielding also a guy who beat a couple of European level guys but struggled with better competition. I think Callum is a bit stronger than Rocky though. So i hope it'll be a fun fight.

I mean, he stopped Rocky inside one round, so he's a least some form of an upgrade....

If Smith gets caught early he may well fold like Fielding did. I just want to see Smith test Alvarez’s chin at least a few times before that happens Also everyone thinks that Canelo will chop Smith down by going to the body but what no one ever mentions is that Smith has a pretty sharp hook to the body himself. Canelo has a great chin but has anyone ever really hit him with heavy bodyshots before?

His left hook to the body is solid but let's see how often he lands it. He's pretty wide open while throwing it and Canelo has an excellent counter right hook. I rewatched Smiths last 4 fights and i wasn't very impressed. He looks slow to me. And his footwork is pretty much too slow as well. I would like to see him moving more around and throwing from awkward angles. He's pretty easy to read and almost all combinations are similar. He's predictable and Clenbuterol is a guy who is great in reading opponents and catching them.

Smith's issue for me is he shells up while being attacked and waits to land the counter left as his opponent backs off. It's worked well in the past but Canelo is super accurate with his body shots and can find the smallest of gaps. Don't think you can shell up and wait for him to finish punching before engaging, that's going to give Canelo way too many chances to chop away at the body. Somehow Smith either has to keep it at range with his jab or be prepared to punch with Canelo when the range has been closed....

YES. He's never been hit, his jaw is untested.

I see timberrrrrrr tonight. Those spindly legs won't hold out.

if i remember correctly fielding was giving a 2nd day rehydration clause, so unless smith gets one too i dont think he'll fold like fielding.

Canelo has good guard to the body. And Smith is way too tall to risk going to the body much.

I think he's better than that and this will be a decent fight actually. Canelo should win convincingly, but I think he'll have to work a bit and face a more lively opponent than Rocky or Kov.
