Will Calzaghe get any credit if he beats or even stops Hopkins?

Will people give him props if he beats or even stops him, or will they say he beat an old man? Or both?

    What do you think?

I don't think any fighter gets total recognition for a win, there is always a select group of haters, aka gimps

More so than ever when a guy is 43

It would be a good solid, unknockable win. Nothing spectacular, nothing great, just a good win.

What?! beating a 43/44 yr old is solid? Had this fight happened 10 yrs ago then YES... Now, it seems like for whatever reason the fight is pretty irrelivant for JC. If bhop wins, then the 'exposed' 'sheltered' talk will come about.

Credit from whom? Seems the Joc C fans here, or a good number, don't think much of Hops anyway. By that logic, he shouldn't get much credit from them. Of course, we live in reality, so IF he does win, he deserves credit.

If he stops Hopkins or gets a knockout, then yes. If Calzaghe wins by decision, then he shouldnt get much credit for beating a 43 yearold man well out of his prime, especially since he's only a couple years out of his prime.

he willl get credit from em, because hopkins is still technical enough, mean enough dirty enough and in good enough shape to give Jo C hell.....and best believe b-hop had a strategy toi win when he signed the contract

Well if he gets no credit for beating Hopkins then other than maybe Kessler all of his fights would be against bums. This would be the 2nd biggest win, if not the biggest win of Joe's carrer, even at 43.

Hell yes he will get credit. Hopkins, even at this advanced age is still the best fighter he has ever faced.

Im a long time BHop fan but even trying to be neutral its still hard to give Joe
FULL credit if he won but depends a lot on how he might beat a 43 year old.
Still old or not, he would get full credit from me if he knocked Hopkins out or
    outright kicked his ass.

so joe goes up a weight and fights a top 5 P4P fighter who also happens to be a top 75 ATG and somehow will get no recognition?get real, hopkins is still a huge name, even if it is alot of american hype,it still would solidify Joe as an ATG.

unfortunately everyone will say that BHop was shot (which I think he is). JC will make him look bad though, and everyone will point to the fact that BHop is 43

Hopkins isn't KOing Joe at any point within the next 5,000 years. Anyone who thinks he is must have a head full of horse manure.
