Pay very close attention to this fight, a lot of money is at stake. Oscar has lost canelo and now putting all his money into promoting ryan garcia. A dominant win over luke would mean ryan is somewhat of a "legit" fighter and would catapult him into near superstar status. Luke is already over 30 and has some losses, might be taking some sort of retirement backroom deal.
There's pretty much no such things as dives anymore, that concept is a relic from the overlapping eras of mob involvement and most fights having no cameras around. Do you have any idea how difficult choreographing a convincing looking fake boxing match would be? Pro wrestling is hard enough and still looks blatantly fake as hell. Guys aren't in there scarfing down real punches and getting CTE to just be taking dives, especially when they could instead sell out and try for the upset and increase their potential future paydays. Fans that are usually the first to call this or that fight one are usually among the least intelligent.
Your join date was three months after this post of mine (and eight months after the fight in question) but let me guess, you're the sort that believes Likar Ramos took a dive versus JMM simply because his fall "looked weird" to you (as though getting KTFO and the slew of nuances that go along with such a neurological disruption is going to adhere to cookie-cutter aesthetic standards and look the way a KO does in, say, a video game or movie, always), huh? https://www.boxingforum24.com/threads/jmm-vs-likar-ramos-fixed.357672/page-2#post-11220163
I made a prediction about a month ago that this fight might be fixed. I wouldn’t be surprised, Garcia is Oscar’s money maker right now
No dives but the scorecards will read 13-0 for Ryan. The ref will deduct points for hitting Ryan in the face.
No, i think it's too early. And no need for Garcia for that. He's in incredible shape (maybe on something..).Campbell is hitten too often with left hooks from guys who are not specialized in them, it may be better for him to fix that to be loss by ud in real fight there will be real hook KO.
It's an insult to the hard work that a fighter like Luke Campbell puts in to be in shape and away from his family after the crap year everyone has had, that you come on a forum and basically question his commitment. I'd love to see you talk this nonsense to his face. Grow up and stop being a troll.
I can't see it happening. Luke will want to desperately win this fight for the sake of his career. Obviously there's no shame in losing to the younger and hungrier fighter, but it likely means he will never fight for the title again.
There's always corruption in sports where financial interests influence play. My cousin's sister married a relatively famous sports agent in baseball. When one of his clients is coming up on free agency, there's a system in place where his stats are going to really shine. Think about all the guys who have incredible seasons right before they hit the free market. They call in favors all the time especially for guys who have the same agent. I met this guy at a family party and he told me organized sports is pretty much the mafia. He's guys clients to deliberately strike out against certain guys, most likely his own client or as a favor to another agent. Massive commission systems in place. So is there still a lot of fight fixing in boxing? Most definitely. Dives are pretty real especially when you're dangled a carrot in the form of a very high profile fight.
I dont see it, if anything Campbell probably sees a shot at derailing a young prospect who is still lightly proven and in a development phase
