Regardless of age and given how everyone thought he was scared of Golovkin if he beats Golovkin fair n square on Saturday he deserves any greatness that comes his way.
All fighters have to finish their careers at some point and as such I hope nobody tries to discredit Canelo and saying Golovkin was old and washed up as it’s just the natural order of things in boxing with the champ ie Wlad sometimes handing the torch over to the younger talented successor.

I can agree with that.

But lets see what Canelo does from here on out. If he cleans out MW. I favor him over Andrade, Saunders, Jacobs and Charlo.

If Canelo won a title at SMW, he would have an excellent case. Canelo is a slick fighter. Having good defense and reflexes can take you a long way.

Many GGGoons say he's a LT Hw. If he picked up a world title at LHW he would be very special. How many fighters have started at WW and won titles at 154, 160, 168, 175? A shoe in as an ATG with a great style, depsite his vertical limitations measuring at 5'8"

 

I think he will be a HOF'er for sure. I expect him to fall short of my personal standards of an ATG maybe. It's only one fight, but this rematch with Golovkin will go a long ways to telling.

Canelo stepped up and fought Lara , Golovkin avoided the Lara of his division when he ducked Saunders .

Canelo moved up and challenged Golovkin , when the chance was there for Golovkin to do the same against Ward he bottled it.

Not sure if Canelo is an ATG , but he's certainly greater than Duckavich Golovkin. God help this forum if he wins decisively on Saturday cos that win will propel him 100 places above GGG on the ATG list
