My gut feeling from the get-go has been Clenelo via stoppage. My gut feeling is usually right albeit not always and I think he's going to use his excellent head movement to avoid Kovalev's jab and get inside and beat him up and stop him. Kovalev's been coming in very light of late (180-182) and he's not hitting anywhere near as hard as he used to. Granted he still hits hard when he sits down on his shots but he's clearly not hitting with the kind of savage force as he used to. Hence why he has only managed to really hurt and KD one opponent from his last six fights as a result of his power and that was Shabranskyy whose whiskers are shaky (the Yarde KO was due to attrition and exhaustion than power). Kovalev wasn't able to catch Yarde with many flush right hands and even the ones he did catch him with didn't carry close to the kind of power they used to back when he was in his prime. Ward has also noticed this about his right hand.
Well Kovalev was fighting legit LHW's, not a blown up MW. Of course at a certain level you're going to stop getting KO's but it seems E. Alvarez has a good set of whiskers. Kov still stopped Yarde so I do think his power is still there. It could have something to do with boxing more and not sitting down on his punches, so you could be right. I know Canelo has a good chin but I'm certain Kovalev is the biggest puncher he has faced in his career. Canelo does have good upper body and head movement but that seems to fade as he gasses in fights. He looked great early in the Jacobs fight but as the fight progressed he got touched more and more. If his stamina is even worse at 175 pounds, I don't think he'll want to eat too many shots from Kovalev. We shall see Satuday, I'm really pulling for Kovalev because I have Kovalev + Ruiz in a parlay I made in Vegas which pays roughly ~$2500. It hasn't been a good year for me betting boxing so I really hope it hits.
Prime Kovalev badly hurt, dropped or stopped (often brutally) virtually every LHW he fought bar maybe one and we're talking about some of the toughest most iron-jawed fighters in the game or just very durable fighters who rarely hit the canvas or get stopped if ever stopped at all. Prime Kov's opponents spoke very highly indeed of his power whereas nowadays none of them do. It's a very stark contrast. Alvarez has a good chin but Prieto hurt him x 3 and once badly and Alvarez was KO'd in the amateurs. No way in a million years Alvarez lasts the distance against a prime Kov who couldn't drop or really hurt him in two attempts (19 rounds of combined action). The vast majority of fighters, trainers etc. are picking Clenelo via stoppage even though most of them think there's going to be a huge weight disparity between them which is not only not true but I won't be in the least bit surprised if Clenelo actually weighs more than Kovalev on fight night. Clenelo was coming in at 172 and 174 six years ago down at 154 and he's been coming in at 178-180 since he bulked up to fight above Clenelo Weight and he's looking even bigger now. Maybe that will have a detrimental effect on his stamina, maybe it will enhance his power, but if Ward can hurt a much better albeit still past prime version of Kovalev with a single shot then I don't see why Hulknelo can't do the same or even worse against a way more past prime one. I hope you're right and I'll be pulling hard for Kov too.
It never ceases to amaze me how many GGG bashing threads pop up along with the hard of learning whining about how GGG only faced bums blah blah blah
Yeah, he's still not grasping it...I just want to correct a few misconceptions that always crop up with you ilk. Apart from beinga a complete pain in the neck, you're regularily & purposefully obtuse, I can see why people do think you're a troll ... I guess it depends how you value your time....you clearly have plenty to waste!
I seem to have being saying this for years about Hulknelo lol that him fighting at super middleweight isn’t the surprise.Him fighting at 154lbs was the actual ridiculous miracle trick he pulled off. Folk need to stop swallowing the narrative about this guy and think subjectively.Either As Oscar claimed he’s no natural Middleweight and took masses of PEDs to bulk up or he’s always been a big guy who cut loads of weight? Those are the only two realistic possibilities and yet some choose to believe Oscar who would peddle his nonsense about a man aged over 25 and still growing into his man body lol......GTFO lol.
Sorry to burst your bubble, but trolls don't use facts or common sense in their arguments. Also, you're the "troll" who continuously gets off boxing topic and starts making everything personal.
Canelo Couldnt knockout a drained shot jcc jr, hes an average puncher at middleweight. It doesnt make sense for him to be going up 2 weight divisions and stopping a top 5 LH.
With such attitudes as displayed above, is it any wonder we have such poor threads. What message does that portray? How would you like me to respond now?
Yeah seriously. Beating up a ringworm fighter, even one who competed at a higher division, is still beating a ringworm fighter.
