it will be two years that hes held the title before his next fight and his best win is ryan rhodes.

he has fought or scheduled to fight both the loser as opposed to the winner of cintron/molina and lara/williams(i dont know a single person who thought paul williams won that fight).

i have never seen anything like this in the 30+ years i have been following boxing.

thank goodness for sulliaman finally putting his foot down and not allowing gbp and canelo to continue to make a mockery of the wbc sww belt by approving canelos next opponent.

If he don't get May next, he'll have no choice but to fight a serious contender. He's lucky for the dud outcome of Lara-Vanes. Now he gets anotha reprieve. But his hand will be forced soon enuf.

Don't be a dumbass. Kirkland backed out and we know what happened with Williams.

He almost fought Kirkland with a bum shoulder, that counts right?

Right. I forgot Rhodes was ranked at the time by RING mag. But his fight against Baysangurov really showed how shot he actually was. Not a good win, in retrospect.

I hope Trout beats Cotto (as I expect him to) so that Canelo doesn't have to fight another past-it / undersized boxer.

Kirkland is not a legitimate threat. Fans really have short memories: pillowfisted Ishida knocked out Kirkland in a round and he was getting beaten by Molina. No win over a slow, plodding hypejob like Angulo will change this fact. Canelo would blast Kirkland out inside 2-3 rounds.

maybe true. but i would like to see how canelo responds to someone with relentless pressure that also has power.
    it would be good test.

you would have to be a dumbass to not understand why gbp was so hot and heavy to make a fight with james after he had arthroscopic surgery on his shoulder and why, after his shoulder has fully healed, is no longer being mentioned as an opponent.

im sure that kirklands lawsuits against gbp have a lot to do with this.

Canelo got my respect when he tried to fight Williams and Kirkland. It's not his fault the fight didn't happen.

james kirkland is the only fighter to ever knock down molina and knockdown and knockout angulo.

canelo alvarez is not going to fight a healthy james kirkland unless james is either beat down or knocked out again prior.

kirkland is one fighter of many that has the ability to put a beatdown on the bully canelo and that would be the end of saul alvarez.

dlh knows this and thats why there will be no james kirkland.

    its that simple.

I am a big fan of Cenelo. But GBP is not doing him any favors with all these light touches. The dude needs tough fights to develop his game. He needs to see different styles to learn to fight through them. I blieve Canelo wants to face tougher comp, but GBP is the one protecting their cash cow. I just hope it doesn't get to the point that GBP, or even Alvarez, declines top ranked opponents becuase "they don't bring money". IF they keep this up, he may be Berto'd on his deelopment. GBP has no clue how to bring a fighter up the ranks, from prospect to champ.

hes gonna fight one of them for sure. kirkland and angulo have been so inactive as of late that there gonna have to get a win or 2 so they can get back in the mix . angulo had a nice knockout an once kirkland comes back an gets a couple wins hes gunna be in the discussion as well . as of right now it looks like lara chance diminished a lil bit after the draw wit vanes , but if thurman get another good win i think thats the fite to b made.

but canelo is gunna try n fight a big dog in may or cotto , but i think the winner of cotto vs trout is the route he should go .

So can Kirkland and he will probably land before Thurman. Thurman's chin is still a question mark.
