Probably looks like the Saunders fight.
Saunders is better than Crawford in this weight division. Out-sped/boxed Canelo for a bit. But couldn't hurt Canelo and then got his face fractured.
But Saunders could have exchanged less and gone 12 and then with favourable Murican judges got a slickster win.
And that's what Canelo would be worried about.

It's worse now. We can't say Canelo is still ducking Benavidez, but now the duck itself has been confirmed.

So we can categorically say Canelo did duck Benavidez.

Except that Canelo hasn't vacated his WBC nor has any purse bid been called. Benavidez has moved up before being the official mandatory for Canelo.

Exactly, Canelo has managed to keep his belt despite not facing Benavidez at any point in the last two years.

Duck is confirmed now as you say Benavidez has left the division without ever getting the shot. Hopefully he fares better at LHW.

If Benavidez was never the enforced mandatory, how did he warrant a shot?

He warranted a shot by being the next best SMW during the entirety of Canelo's reign. Unfortunately for us all Canelo never showed any interest in facing Benavidez, so he's left now to see if he can get a shot at the LHW champion. Hopefully he doesn't get ducked for another two years.

I think we're both saying the same thing here tbh.

Yes. Fits his pattern perfectly. As long as Crawford beats his next opponent.

I'd like to see it, but nah. Canelo is cleaning up the kitchen before he leaves.

I will die on this hill

    Crawford definitely beats Canelo

But if Canelo wins he deserves zero credit.

It's starting to look like Crawford will be next after Berlanga and TBH that's a **** fight. I have -0 interest in Canelo-Crawford.

Nope. Canelo shouldn't fight a WW, but if he does he loses.

Problem is, your post suggests you believe TC is already good enough to overcome 20 pounds and beat canelo. If YOU believe he's good enough to beat canelo, then canelo beaqting a guy you think is good enough, should get credit.

So, 'I firmly believe one man will beat another but if the inverse happens it's meaningless and undeserving of accolades'? :) Surely if Crawford is lb for lb then it's a way of saying that if he fought in the same way at higher weight classes he is so skilled he could beat heavier fighters. That's part of how I interpret lb for lb anyway. I mean, Bud is taller than Canelo, has a longer reach, and walks around in the 180s. If he does lose I don't think it'll be due to his size.
