Of course he gets knocked out if the fight ever happens but nothing GGG could do to him in the ring will damage his reputation more than what Canelo did himself with the most blatant of ducks whilst pretending the opposite. He gets him in the ring post fight yelling he's ready to put the gloves back on, the " we mexicans don't F around " nonsense and of course giving up the belt whilst spewing lies and excuses. I don't really care if the fight never materialises. Golovkin needs to become undisputed this year then move up with the ultimate goal of a legacy fight against a bone-fide warrior legend, Andre Ward. I really hope Chavez can bring it to Canelo. To see him brutalised and knocked stiff by his countryman would be too perfect. Mexico needs a hero in the sport but Saul Alvarez is not the man.
I have to disagree with this. Canelo is very underrated defensively. Yesterdays fight had me cringing when the HBO announcers were getting excited about Jr. landing some punches when Canelo was on the ropes. All is saw were a lot of punches getting blocked by gloves, elbows and shoulders. That being said i think GGG kos Canelo late.
vs Canelo, we will not see the GGG that fought Jacobs we'll see the GGG that fought Macklin, Stevens, Lemieux, Murray, .... but with an extra measure of aggression because he genuinely doesn't like Canelo.
I agree with the poster who said Canelo's stationery feet will be an issue, he's also not a high-volume puncher. G should be able to get the job done
Jacobs has good skill, but depended more on his size to survive. Canelo I think has better defense when he uses his legs and waist, but like in the Jacobs fight, Ggg will edge him with his jab. Canelo faster combination puncher, but Ggg is deadlier. Canelo can't afford to stand in front of Ggg. No one can take a well placed bodyshot, Idc how great condition, weight, or chin you have. Ggg is a tremendous body puncher with a helluva jab. Maybe no ko, but stoppage is more likely.
Canelo beats Golovkin clear. Canelo does everything better. As far as power. You need more than power to win fights.
canelo does everything better really? so among other things, you think Canelo has more power superior workrate better movement better footwork better balance better conditioning compared to GGG? pretty sure knowledgeable boxing fans would disagree with you and for at least some of these attributes, GGG is far better--eg, movement, conditioning, and workrate (GGG is among the highest in punches/round among MW, Canelo is among the lowest) and what about ring IQ? GGG had 300 amateur fights (incl olympic silver) before turning pro; no idea about Canelo's amateur background, but he turned pro at 16, so i doubt it's substantial.
Always so hard to answer this I think,I remember when everyone was saying Brook gets knocked out and I thought the same that he'd never been down and in many respects he stood up well but was overpowered all the same. I reckon Canelo got an iron chin, thick neck etc but then again he's never fought anyone who could physically hurt him and that's just a fact,Chavez had no strength whatsoever so whilst I suspect he's an iron chin until we see him stand up to GGGs punches we can't know for sure. Bob Arum felt that Canelo gets knocked out
