He could easily do the weigh in if he wanted.
All the fight night weighs I've seen for him when he was at 154 had him in the high 160s/low 170s, which would make me think he could easily weigh 170 the afternoon of the fight before going up to 175 or so by the time he vets in the ring.

Jacobs is a huge MW who has to cut big time to make 160.

Its a different scenario with Canelo

Canelo is not doing the weigh in. The IBF is corrupt anyway. Boxing doesn't need that belt.

It's the IBF, not a trinket as far as belts go.

It also has to be done fairly. Why should one fighter get an advantage?

Golovkin would be mad to go into the biggest fight of his career with a weight disadvantage. If he does it and still wins then kudos to him, but it's a significant risk.

Yeah, I agree with next day weigh ins even though I don't think that a fighter should be punished for the excess weight because he or she made the weight when it counted. What it does is gives the fans ( hardcore and casual ) an idea of how a fight might go.

Lots of good reasons for two official weigh in days and should be the standard across the board. Anyone who opposes DKSAM and is little better than those "Let's bleed" fans.

So if they miss the second weigh in what happens? And how are you guys so sure that the extra weight gives you an advantage. Most fighters don't get on the scale again anyway so...

Manager / trainer as licenced officials who conducted the fighters training / travel / attendance gets fined a % out of their official cut. If he seeks to get it back off his fighter that is their business. Funds confiscated are declared publicly before the fight in the ring and donated to charity. Who wants that to cap off their ring entrance?

Make it a team responsibility and name and shame and it starts a slow march towards improvement. You don't see this weight advantage bullsheet in pro Muay Thai or Bando - considered weak and you will get frozen out to lesser circuits.

For me, it is not about a fighter having to be within a certain limit the next day, it's just knowledge for me on how a fighter might or might not use it.

Its not the IBF that's corrupt Boxing as a whole is corrupt . From the State Commissions, that make & change their rules to favor selected boxers willy nilly,
    on down
Id bet on fight night Canelo outweighs GGG by 10 pounds
