will Canelo's stock drop if he continues to fight guys like Smith?

Let's be honest here, Canelo can get anyone close to him in weight into the ring as he is the biggest star in boxing. Few other fighters, if any, have that privilege. So it's fair to judge his opponent selection more critically than anyone else.

I don't believe he'll fight Islam, that's just too ridiculous for words and certainly deserves strong criticism. But if he does there are really no excuses.

On the other side if he fights Andrade, Charlo, BJS, or Lemiuex next, I'll be willing to give him credit. Even Chavez Jr is acceptable. But not Islam. Is that fair?

KiwiMan I know you're a GGG nut hugger but the thing is that these guys start pricing themselves out when it comes to Canelo. They expect 3x their biggest career pay days, is that realistic? I don't think it is, forget the money beat Canelo and become the man!!!!

GGG fan's think GGG deserves more than 15mill to fight Canelo (which they claim is an easy win) and Jacobs don't deserve 3 million to fight GGG (These fan boys think GGG decapitates him) and Jacobs is the coward not GGG?

Golovkin had the balls to fight HIM.

Canelo gathered up his skirts and ran for the hills.

Yes Paul Smith to be sure,go on all the well known you tube channels, they ain't Canelo haters far from it and yet they follow boxing and at the time had never heard of Liam Smith so I find it incredible that you're so up on the fortunes of the Smith family from Liverpool?

Right now there's no money on the table if Oscar was serious about putting his guy in with GGG theyed send a contract, you're totally clinging at straws cause actions speak louder than words in boxing and up to now Canelo gave his I'm ready for GGG speech twice in the ring and when "ready" he subsequently gave it to GGG,begrudgingly so as he said it was unfair of the WBC at the time to go after him like that.
Look their ain't nothing wrong in Canelo providing for his family,he should just come out and say that because there's no way on earth one can explain a fight like this other than a stay busy,if he has plans on staying at 154 then I guess you could call it a tune up for those who have titles at that weight?

TBH yeah out of all the Smith brothers I have probably followed Liam the least.

Paul was obviously the one I followed the closest, and he's fought a lot of talented fighters
I only really noticed Stephen when he got clocked by Selby, but have seen a few fights since and I'm not a fan of the smaller weight classes
Callum has started to gather a lot of hype, and Liam seemed to sit in the shadows a bit but Paul claims Liam is the most skilled of all the brothers (although he did seem to think Callum is the most physically gifted)

There's no suggestion that Charlo, Andrade or Lemieux priced themselves out of a Canelo fight. And honestly 3 x their highest payday is not always unrealistic, Canelo may well beat any of those three so they'd want to get a fair monetary deal. Chavez Jr apparently wants more than 17%, I don't call that pricing out.

Let's not discuss GGG (I never mentioned GGG in the previous post btw) as this is a Canelo thread and GGG/Canelo has been discussed a million times already. It's not an easy fight for either IMHO.

Both Saunders and Jermall Charlo said they wanted to fight Canelo recently. How do you know they priced themselves out? What is your source about them even receiving an offer let alone turning it down?

If you don't like Canelo that's fine, heck! he's not my favorite fighter but facts are facts. Canelo earned the most and made the most money in 2016 per Forbes, that's a fact. Like it or not, Canelo is a cashcow numbers don't lie. That's the reason everyone wants to fight him. Shuuut, his fight with FMWJr sold more PPV and GGG will not be able to do half in his life time, this is only one fight. Before anyone says it was because of Floyd, remember it takes two to tango.
