Probably not yet, but he doesn't have the name anywhere to draw a big fight unless (a) it's an up and coming fighter looking to try to move up the ABC rankings or (b) he becomes a mandatory. He doesn't have the fan base to face a top 10 - 15 guy, unless he's willing to take the fight on short notice in his opponent's home turf. He's in a bit of a tough spot. That said, if he wanted to take a fight against someone else who is also unknown and dangerous (a la Franklin Lawrence), that could probably happen.

He said on the Spokane AM radio this past weekend that he was negotiating with 2 Top 15 contenders. I don't have any info on who they are but these are my guesses. Raphael Zumbano Love and Victor Brisbal. Zubmano Love comes to mind as it would make sense to smash Farah before him. Brisbal makes sense to me because Welliver was just hanging out in Peurto Rico for the WBO convention. They are WBO #14 and #15.

If I had to bet, I would say it is Brisbal. He got ranked out of the blue for doing basicly nothing. His last win was Willie Herring in April 2011....now he pops up rated in November? Something strange is going on here though it may have only to do with the location of the convention.

He's 19-1 Charles Davis is his best victory.

So eat your heart out folks. For all of those who complained about Chauncy being ranked, look at Brisbal. He has not even won any regional titles. He has never beaten anybody close to even decent, and he has been knocked out by Dominic Jenkins. Welliver is about 100 times as worthy of ranking as this dude.

So who likes my logic on Brisbal? He appears headed for a big match to me. The ranking is just a little added nudge to make him more marketable for whoever is about to beat his arse. I'm hoping it is Welliver.

I met him last year on Halloween weekend. Been following his career for about 7 years though. Welliver is good people. He's been a part of the boxing forums for a long time, he's put in a ton of work to climb his way up towards the top of the heap, and he is the avenue for every fan who enjoys to root for, and see success from, a guy next door type of dude.

Chauncy Welliver is the everyman's HW boxer. Unlike most of these arseholes who are top boxers, Welliver always has time for the fans and doesn't consider himself any better than anyone else. He is a breath of fresh air today amongst the extreme low lifes that inhabit the boxing lime light.

All fans of Top Notch Chins should care about this dude as well. He's in the top 3 for best chins at HW. Has the #2 current HW streak of rounds without going down...343. Only McCall boasts more and he is 18 years older, high 300's. :bbb

Welliver is a native of Hillyard - Spokane Washingtion, USA. He was living in New Zealand attempting to land a David Tua fight but he no longer lives there. He had dual residency and won the NZ National HW Title, and was Tua's WBO APAC Interim champ waiting for his shot for 2 years.

Welliver represents Native Americans, Americans in general, New Zealand and China. He is WBC Continental Americas HW Champ, WBC Asian HW Champ, WBO China HW Champ and WBO APAC HW CHamp, to go along with his NZ National Title, which is his favorite belt because of its long standing tradition dating back into the 1800's.

Many people are confused about Welliver's true origins but what it comes down to with the dude, is that he represents the whole world. He loves the Russian people and all of his friends there from his times as primary sparring partner with Povetkin, Valuev and others. He loves the NZ people, Native people, Americans, Canadians, Ethiopians, Iranians, Chinese, and even the Aussies.

Soon enough he will represent you all as your Unified/Undisputed HW Champion Of The World!

you need to clarify that statement. Those two fighters are ALPHABET top 15 contenders NOT rated top contenders. In fact neither of those guys are even close to being a top 15 Heavyweights in the World. Huge difference there. Huge.

Are you talking Boxrec? Any HW fan whith their head out of their arse can go and see that the Boxrec HW rankings are rigged and extremely slanted to UK HW's. They even list the prizefighter fights in wrong order there. F that ranking system.

The WBC and WBO rankings are what determines who fights the Klitschko brothers. Beating a guy on their Top 15 is a huge deal and is even superior to beating some dude who's boxrec ranking is way higher than the top 15 guy from the ABC.

Monte Barrett is boxrec #25....he hadn't had a win in 4 years before he beat Tua. A match Welliver should have had but Monte was viewed as the easier ticket. Welliver also should have fought Monte on the Holyfield card but he took the easy road with Charles Davis....and got his arse beat.

Take Boxrec with a grain of salt. Their rankings are complete garbage. They had a POS in Chisora Top 10 as a 14-0 bum who never beat anybody. Their whole system is rigged and fraudulant. :deal

I am not talking about Boxrec I never even go on there. Nobody worth a **** is going to fight Welliver in China or NZ or any other obscure place. Period.

China is far from obscure. Keep tabs over the next year, you will be very surprised. Evander Holyfield was ringside for Welliver's last fight with Calloway. The Chinese will put on a mega show with Welliver in 2012. The only mega fight that makes sense for NZ would be Tua. The rest of them HW's down that way would probably be better fights to sell in Australia. NZ is a small place but it is Welliver's 2nd home. And I bet you a very decent opponent is found for his January self promoted show there. Crossing my fingers for Brisbal.
