yeah, worse have won belts. he'll never be a true champion, nor will he beat anyone of quality but i'm sure they'll throw him in with some boxcar hobo to give him the wbo belt someday

Well let's look at the top. First and foremost how did he get rated so high there for the WBC? Oi.

He can't beat Sergio, he's too lethargic during the middle rounds and doesn't deal well with slick opponents. That said what really gives JCC Jr problems are guys who hold their gloves up high at all tims. Sergio seems to play pocket pool during the fights with his gloves by his balls so maybe JCC Jr could get lucky. I doubt it.

I'd love to see him vs Daniel Santos which could be fun. That said I have reservations whether Santos is still ALIVE so I guess we'd have to favor JCC Jr because a no show is possible.

Stinks is way too slick and too fast hand speed wise to lose to the JCC Jr. Jr might not have the footwork to keep up with Stinks although I think Stinks could always rever to "Old Cory" and hop on his bike and cost himself a decision.

No way does he beat Paul Williams or Dz.

Its more likely to be the WBC, I wont be surprised if they find someway to strip Martinez and have Cintron and Chavez fight for the belt in Mexcio City.

That way all Chavez needs to do is stay on his feet for 12 rounds and he has a belt.

man those are some thorough and generous analysis. i don't give him a shot against any of the fighters you mentioned, except a drastically fading spinks. anyone else in that list, live and there to win, destroys him

I think the problem with JCC Jr is that he isn't trained well. His corner is very hectic and gives off the theme of absolute chaos. There should be two guys at most talking in the corner, the chief 2nd and a hype man. Chavez Jr literally has four or five guys blabbing at once...and not to mention his dad is talking to him at the same time outside of the ring.

Clear example of such a problem was in his last fight against Cuello. Julio had a tough round where he had gotten jabbed to death. He couldn't pass through the gloves of Cuello who was doing the Clottey/Winky Wright game of high guard, take em on the gloves and move on. Chavez couldn't figure him out and looked discouraged, he goes back to his corner and slumps on his stool only to hear this:

Trainer- Julio that was a good round.
Cut man- Good round Julio but more jabs.
Trainer- Julio you need to throw more jabs.
Cut Man- Yes Julio good round.
3rd guy somewhere behind the cut man- Your footwork needs to be better.
Trainer- Julio, you need to...Julio Julio....Julio your dad wants to talk to you. Look at the crowd.

As he says that, Julio Chavez Jr stops whatever he was doing to turn to look at Papa Chavez outside the ring throwing air combinations ala Yoel Judah.

They quickly cut to a replay of the action where even the chick doing commentary goes "All of that did him no good."

That doesn't even touch the fact that he literally kills himself to make 155 and it makes him a 4 round fighter. The first two rounds and the last two, whatever he gets in between is gravy.

only if his opponent is weak...the kid is hype Saul "Canelo" Alvarez already challenged him and says the only thing quality about the kid is his name.

I thought it was bad news when Top Rank was scared to get a fight with Alfonso ****in Gomez going.

I still think he has a lot of talent...he's just got the wrong people holding the reigns on his career.

Arriba, is there any chance Sr. takes over in the corner? Unless they get one of the elite Mexican trainers to buy in, I don't see why JCC shouldn't be the one in there with his son. From that documentary they ran on ESPN, they seem to get along well.

That's something best asked to one of our loser Mexican posters around here who can't get over the fact that Puerto Rico is winning the rivalry.

    Or FreddyWak...either or.

I do see what you're saying of course, It's obvious to me at least that he only REALLY listens to Chavez Sr anyways. I mean his other trainers could be telling him to stab the guy and he'd just nod and do his own thing. He only pays attention to his dad anyways.

My guess is Sr never wants to make the decision of whether to pull the plug on a fight Jr is losing or doesn't want to deal with having to revive his son after a KD or something like that. Father/son duos usually fail.

At some point, it always seems that way. But really, if Jr. is going to fail, it should be because he's just not that naturally gifted, not because his entourage is giving him instructions. Plus it's not like "dad" here is Mosley Sr. or Papa Trinidad, or even Floyd Sr. He's JC freaking Superstar.

I wonder where James Kirkland would rank if he wasn't about to go the booty house.

I think he's be #1 in the IBF, #3 in the WBA, #8 in the WBC and about #5 in the WBO.
