Will Chocolatito (44-0) break Marciano/Mayweather (49-0) record?

Roman "Chocolatito" Gonzalez of Nicaragua is now just 6 consecutive wins short of passing the 49-0 mark set by both Rocky Marciano and Floyd Mayweather, Jr.

Chocolatito is just 28 years old and would seem to have several years left to fight at a high level.

Will Gonzalez break the record set by Marciano and Mayweather? Will Chocolatito retire undefeated?

He will likely best Mayweather's record. However, because he is a FIGHTER, he will likely fight on until somebody eventually bests him.

As for Marciano's record, neither Mayweather or Gonzalez will ever break it. Marciano's record is special because it pertains to HEAVYWEIGHTS. And, almost any Heavyweight has the ability to knock the other man out. Many fighters at lower weights have won more than 49 in a row.

That's a good point. Still, it's a record in boxing so people talk about it.

    POLL ADDED to thread.

Ofc he can, specially if he follows the Mayweather formula to retire undefeated:

    - cherrypick opponents who are tailor made for your style

    - avoid anyone who's considered a legit threat, at least during their primes

    - use diva shenanigans to get unfair advantages in the ring, (dictate catchweights, glove size, referee of your choice, etc)

    - Finally, once you have enough $$$, make an underhand deal with USADA so they let you roid up while they make sure your opponents stay clean

and voila! Chocolatito retires undefeated as TBME (the best midget ever)

Yep and watch the hate reach FEVER pitch for him once he closes in.

These Mayweather fanboys don't even know these top 10 guys who's butt GGG is kicking at Middleweight and have to refer to them as bums. Being no Flyweights other than Gonzalez are featured on Yank TV, who can Gonzalez face who is not a bum?

Yeah he'll break it. And props to him for doing so and being ranked p4p.

He needs to try to gain some fame and $$$ for his legacy

I don't think that people will hate on Gonzalez like they hated Mayweather. Mayweather was a boring defensive fighter who never knocked anybody out. Gonzalez is an exciting offensive fighter who knocks everybody out. Mayweather did a lot to cultivate people's hate, the cheating, the woman beating, the trash talking, the cherry picking, and ducking. I don't see any of that in Gonzalez. Like Golovkin he seems to be a good guy who wants to give the fans their money's worth.
