Many people are saying that Cotto won't be the same fighter as he once was. I think that is foolish. We have seen many fighters go through many wars in the ring and come out the same. It takes more than one or two fights to make a fighter shot. This is Cottos first loss and the first time he has been beaten up. He still has years of prime left. Thoughts?

We will not know until we know. It may make him a better fighter...but he was broken mentally and physically inside the ring. He will NOT be the same, that is the only thing I am certain off, something like this makes a difference to a fighter, unquestionably. I wonder what the result will be.

It depends on the fighter, Cotto seems to have a great head on his shoulder's..
He will be the same Cotto of old, IMO

Some fighter's can't & don't ever regain their form after a draining fight,
but it all depends on their mental & prep.

the stoppage loss was pretty bad. and this was after dominating for the first 6 rounds. i just hope that cotto would recover from this mentally. i don't think that he was much damaged physically even with the beatdown he received.

In post fight interviews, cotto seemed perfectly fine. he pretty much said he knows that there are more great years ahead of him.

cotto seems to have a very clear mind. he knows what needs to be done. i think he will be better mentally. i dont think his style will change, but he will be refined.

He looked small against Margo. And he got tagged too much early on.

Unfortunately, I don't think Cotto will be the same. I think this fight took a lot out of him. For me I think he needs to avenge his loss to Margarito before he can move on but in my opinion he has found his bogeyman. It doesn't look too good to me but I hope I'm wrong. I hope that this is just a glatch and he comes back as good as he once was. Only time will tell.

I think that if Cotto wants to avenge his defeat at the hands of Margarito he needs to become a better fighter, now the difference is that I really think he will become better and later on avenge his defeat, I just hope Margarito doesn't lose any of his fights in between his probable rematch with Cotto. I don't say this to discredit Margo in any way, I would just love if he could avenge his defeat at the hands of the Punisher and if he rematches Clottey well, I would like a win for him too. However, in my ideal world, Margo would go on and rematch Williams, while Clottey unifies against Berto, Cotto fights a good opponent in his comeback fight and later on Fights Clottey and if he wins we get the rematch with Margarito. :D

Cotto would have beaten Margarito if he did not gass out. It was great work from Margarito to make him gass out but he was well behind on the scorecards till about the eith rouned. I still probably had Cotto winning when it was stopped but I could see Margarito had the upper hand. I think this will make Cotto a better fighter but no matter what it was absolutely brilliant by Margarito to take his chance the way he did when Cotto gassed out a bit. It is a bit premature to be saying he is not in the same class as Margarito and Williams anymore imo.
