Harder puncher ????:huh I don't know about ,, in any case it would be a mistake for cotto to fight the IMO the bigger , stronger margarito on the inside.. Margarito box ??? he's a puncher brawler I doubt he's going to change , he will go straight at cotto and it would be in cotto best interest to move and box..

Mayorga was not blessed with an iron chin, but Margarito is? Mayorga took an insane beating from Trinidad before getting stopped in the 8th round. Margarito wouldn't last 6 in that type of situation. What did Margarito do to give you the idea that he has a better chin than Mayorga had at the time?

I can't wait until Cotto puts an end to all this madness and destroys Margarito easily like any elite pressure fighter would.

Cotto should make Margo go backwards. Margo can only fight going foward in retreat you have nothing to fear. If Cotto is pursuing he will dominate and KO Margo However, it takes some real starch and a hell of a chin to make Margo retreat.

Cotto will do a little bit of everything because Margarito can't adjust. He fights one way, one style and I love him for that however against Cotto you need to be able to do more than one thing.

Cotto will give him a lil bit of everything and maybe not physically but mentally overwhelm Margarito.

Fighting southpaw against a guy with a great right hand would be absolutely moronic!! The right hand is the best punch to throw against a southpaw. How many southpaws need to be dropped and stopped by a right hand before people realize that? Do I need to start listing fights where a southpaw got knocked down from a right hand?

Get yourselves ready to see a little of everything. Margarito will pressure and give everything he has. That is what he does. Cotto will do what he has to do. I see him starting moving quickly and stablishing his quick jab. Trying to confused Margarito. But I also see him making Margo respect him by banging him if he get to close. But to me the key for this fight will be Cotto going in and out with effective boxing. Margarito will get hit by that jab a million times. He is too easy to hit.

You have a point and I don't see Cotto fighting southpaw against anybody. But I see him changing sides depending on whats going on. Straight right hands is the bst tool against southpaws, But there are also TOO MANY right handed guys that CAN"T land the right hand against a good southpaw fighter. All depend on who the fighters are. And let me say this go and see the last fights. Margarito right hand ALWAYS have a loop. Cotto's right hand is always straight thru the middle. I can't say he hits harder, because nobody knows. But Cotto has the best right hand technique among this two

Cotto will have to use his superior ability to move and use the ring to his advantage against Margarito.

Cotto also would have to beat him with speed -

I dont think that Cotto should press the fight or take the fight to the inside ... more than anything a win should be the ultimate goal ...

You can't give Margarito any openings or let him discourage you in the latter rounds - because when Margarito turns it up ... its amazing ...

I think also Cotto has to take a page out of Floyd's book and throw that Jab to the body.

Inside fighting Cotto gets hit with that uppercut ... trading and brawling causes Cotto to get knocked out ... and once Margarito has you hurt - he's not going to stop punching ... he's not going to get tired and he won't stop until the bell or the ref stops him.

I can't say that Margarito is the superior fighter, but he has nothing to lose and all to gain.

Good analysis. Part of what makes Margarito unique is his comfort and ability fighting on the inside, given his size and reach. Cotto would be foolish to stand in one place and punch. He isn't foolish I don't believe, though.

Along those lines, I was extremely surprised and disappointed that Steward did not design a better gameplan for Cintron in the rematch. He seemed to think Cintron could hurt Margarito. Not sure what could have helped, but Kermit needed to show more movement to have any real chance.

Using lateral movement, working downstairs and alternating distance is the way Cotto can prove superior in this fight. If he gets logjammed into any one strategy for 8+ rounds, he's in trouble.

His game plan was to make Margarito fight going backwards ... but when you turn it into a war of attrition then it because Margarito's fight because he's used to fighting on the inside, he's used to guys trying to back him up.

The plan shouldve been to use that jab - but Cintron doesn't have a jab and couldn't do that.

Cotto may think that he's better than Margarito and can beat him any which way and may elected to trade with him. I'm sure Cotto is strong enough to do it ... but you have to be smart about that **** ...

Cotto may prove us all wrong ...

The jab is key...Cotto will jab alot and keep Margo off balanced, then attack the body and head. He will move some but only when margo becomes deperate.

This post shows what you know of Cotto's career. He has boxed intelligently in plenty of fights. He will fight Margarito as a boxer puncher, because essentially this is what he is. He will box at times, and pressure at times. He is better then Marg from every area, and it will show on the night.

In every area??? More power? That's debatable. Definitely not as good of a chin or stamina. Definitely doesn't throw as many punches either. Definitely doesn't throw as many varied punches as Margarito. Definitely isn't as big or as tough as Margarito.

Margarito will show up and beat Cotto down. This is going to be brutal and Margarito is going to take some years (ring) off Cotto.
