Watching older Margarito fight's, Williams and Santos stand out...
not because the fight's were close but because The left hand
would land just about everytime it was thrown.
Tony defo has very underated defense and condition.
he absorbes alot of shot's with his gloves, except the left.
    (Margarito took them all)

Margarito can also throw = from the southpaw stance.

Antonio alway's has his condition to fall back on, he will never quit.
I can't wait to see what gameplan Cotto will use?

I'm thinking off putting down a big lump of cash bet for:

Cotto to win by KO - 4/1 with william hill

do you think it is a good bet anyone?

I think he should provide himself with the possibility. Margarito doesn't have horrible balance or anything, but I still think Cotto would be catching him unawares in the ring - if he left it until, say, round three. On the other hand Cotto's left hook may be the best punch in boxing, currently. Should he sacrifice it for what amounts to a party trick?

I think Cotto should fight orthodox for three rounds and see if he can double up the hook without leaving himself to open. If he can, he has his fight plan until Margarito surges or Cotto starts to tire. If he can, I think switch-hitting is the most viable alternative.

One thing though - Margarito SHOULD be training to counter the switch in my view, with a straight shot. Okay, it might be wasted time because Cotto is so well balanced and quick and because he might not switch, but they would only need it to work twice to force Cotto to abandon his plan...

He will probably will since he has hinted that he will do that if it feels comfortable to him at the press conference. I dont think it matters if he does turn southpaw. Margarito only struggles with taller southpaws and Cotto is shorter than Margarito so I dont think it matters.

good point:good But I'm not sure Cotto would use it for an extended period(a full round) I think he'll pick his spots to use it when he sees an opening

I'm excited as well as to what Cottos approach to the very predictable Margarito will be........I expect Cotto to stay on the outside utilizing his jab and trying to time Margarito rushing in(maybe with an uppercut, which he seemed to be working on in the training videos I've seen) much like the later half of the Mosley fight.
Cotto will amaze many with his speed, it will win the nite:)

I've never looked forward to a fight so much in my life:p and I havent said that too often:lol:

Yes, he has flaws because of no amateur background. Watch the Santos fight and he did that. He got nailed but Santos is way bigger than Cotto so I dont think he can hurt Margarito with head shots.

Still don't know who I like in this fight. If it ends in a KO, it's Margo's. If it's a decision - I see Cotto eeking it out.
