Do you guys think Cotto will surpass Tito if he beats ODH and then mayweather?

Hmmmm....well Trinidad defended his WW title something like 16 times. Cotto has a ways to go, but this is not impossible. He has a more complete skill set than Trinidad IMO.

If he does that - then move up in weight and then win a couple more belt - Yes.

Yeah if Cotto beats the likes of De La Hoya & gives a good account of himself against Mayweather than he can pass Trinidad IMO.

its gone be tough to do that. One thing about Cotto is that he gets hit a lot and in every fight he gets stunned atleast once. The only person who stopped Tito was Hopkins who in reality is a Light Heavy, so I think theres a good chance Cotto will fall victim to a puncher in the next couple of years.

Beating oscar isn't going to do **** for his legacy and it certainly won't make him greater than Cheato huh hmm I mean Tito.

If by chance some miracle occurs and he beats Mayweather, that would seal the deal for him. Only then will be surpass Tito as an ATG..

he may surpass him in terms of achievements but when it comes to charisma nd fan support he won't come close unless he opens himself to the public like Tito did before.

If he beats De la Hoya and Mayweather...yeah.

Tito LOST against DLH and then was schooled by Hopkins and Wright.

Perhaps wins over De La Hoya and Mayweather would do it. He would surely surpass Trinidad if he completely unified 147 and beat contenders like Clottey and Margarito. He's got the potential to do so, but it's no sure thing.

I don't think so. Tito was virtually unbeatable. Illegal handwraps or not (and for arguments sake I will say not) Tito had a punch that crippled opponents as soon as they got hit. He would barely jab at Whitaker's head and you would see the guy stumble backward as if someone just hit him with a brick. Though I think DLH won the fight against Tito you can see if you rewatch the fight why DLH was staying clear the hell away from Tito's punches. Whenever he did get hit he would reel to the side and have to get distance, after just being punched once! -and this is a boxer with a tremendous chin! The guy, so skinny looking, was almost supernatural with that left hand.
