He's added a few tricks ever since losing to manny, but he hasn't demonstrated any of these new moves against elite opposition. Do you think these new skills will still be there when he faces his first elite opponent in 3 years?

Yeah ok. It was Pacquaio who didn't want to come and fight him at 154Ibs. because he was scared(mostly Freddie Roach was) that Cotto might knock him out because he'd be fighting a stronger version of Cotto.

manny wanted him to come back down to 147. he fought margarito at 150. why not cotto? because he knows he can't beat cotto or anyone else without playing the drain game. *see pac/jmm 1, 2 & 3 as proof.*
when all things are equal...pac isn't great.

news flash: bradley is going to get in pacs ass come june!!!

:yikes what!!! Cotto has fought Manny unlike Floyd!!!

And Cotto walked because at the 11th HR Manny demanded another catchweight to weaken him!!

Did we see anything new against Margo? If there was something I missed it.

He showed improved defense against the uppercut a punch that has caused him great problems in previous fight and especially in the first Margo fight. He showed better ability to hold and clinch. Less body punching unfortunately and better right hand.

No disrespect to Cotto, but, I don't think he's added that many new skills. Against Margarito he just did a better job staying out of harms way. That's it. His attacks were more or less the same. And he was still vulnerable to the same punches.

well he can't really box with floyd. the more he tries to do that, the worse he loses. and even if i'm backing cotto in this one, i'm leaning towards a wide ud loss or probably even a late ko loss.

    defense is a skill

    footwork is a skill

    ring generalship is a skill

walking an opponent backwards to avoid punishment is a skill

margarito had cotto on his heels around the 7 round of the first fight. he had landed several uppercuts and body shots that seemed to sap cotto's energy and cotto was in full retreat. the last time around cotto was darting from side to side and still attacking in spots. margarito landed far less and really did nothing to slow cotto down. i'd say that was all the result of new skills.
