I've seen people who would never think of dropping any other racial slurs openly use hate words towards them. In the UK many people openly revile them as an entire community. Their behaviour isn't excused and should anything happen they're condemned in the harshest terms by a hostile media. If you're going to claim 'white privilege' then you shouldn't do it with travellers who are without a doubt a marginalised set of people who are discriminated against in strong terms.
I'm talking about the narrative around here. There's a big difference though, if a white gypsie chooses not to identify as a gypsie to the rest of the world he's just another white guy in turn they can choose to exercise white privilege whenever they want . Black folks here in america are always judged in a different way and they have no control over it. Not blaming you. This is coming from a white person. Just calling it how I see it
You wont find a doorman willing to say there is a no *insert ethncity* policy other than to travellers. I say that and I'm not a gypsy. I say it because it's true. Shits tucked up in the US, I was surprised when I had a black friend over from Atlanta that noone in London was surprised to see us hanging out together.
