Will David Lemieux be the first fighter to knockdown Gennady Golovkin?

I didn't call GGG a hype job. Just because some posters do doesn't mean that everyone who doesn't have a poster of him feels the same way.

I'm not calling people who are fans of this fight new to boxing. I have read expectations. I say similar things to similar situations when they apply. It so happens that Golovkin is one of the most discussed fighters at the moment so naturally there will be a correlation.

You are really reading between the lines here when there is no material there for you. I haven't "trashed" anything. I have thought about and discussed this fight but what are we expected to copy and paste the same multi-paragraph breakdown and opinion of the fight in every thread?

The very post of mine you quoted, which I'm sure was the only thing remotely close you could find, was a direct response to CST80 and was actually warranted and true if you were to go read our dialogue leading up to that. Sooo, try again.

Why don't we start this lovely discussion you want to have. Who are you picking to win? I am picking Golovkin to stop Lemieux in the first third of the scheduled fight.

Where do you live in Washington? I unfortunatley am stuck in Portland. This place sucks. Everyone is either stoned or has Downs Syndrome. Across the river in Vancouver, Wa it is even worse.

Bradley went through rough patches against Provodnikov because he fought like an idiot.

I think Lemuiex has become a very solid fighter since his "growing pains" two fight stretch. His footwork is better, he is much more defensively responsible and experienced. He is still right in the middle of his prime so the speed and power are still top notch.
    That being said...
GGG has gone almost 400 fights (am and pro) without going down. That's just crazy. His sense of timing, distance and ability to apply phsycological constant pressure are top notch. Not to mention his ability to cut off the ring and always keep his balance and position to punch back. Oh, he hits pretty hard also.
In the end, Lemuiex is very good. B+ or A- grade fighter overall, but with A speed and power. Problem is that Gennady is the goods. Possibly an ATG. Can't imagine anyone with a pressure fighter style beating GGG without a massive size advantage.
    My best guess is...
Gennady gets clocked a time or two but doesn't go down or even show hurt. He walks Lemuiex down fairly quickly and ends things impressively.
KO-2, Gennady Golovkin to become unified middleweight champion, while maintaining WBC mandatory status:)

Anything is possible of course and GGG is willing to take punches. I'm not so sure that Lemieux hits harder than Curtis Stevens though and he absolutely landed a few CLEAN, HARD punches to GGG's chin!
I think GGG is the truth, probably the most complete fighter in boxing, but I was amazed at his chin

I strongly disagree with what I have underlined and I strongly agree with what I have left quoted but not underlined.

I honestly don't see Lemeiux as having improved very much. His footwork strikes me as more flash than substance, part of the stamina issue, and his "improved defense" as many say still just doesn't do anything for me. Once someone figures him out or lands a specific punch I think he is toast as he doesn't seem to adjust. His major problem though, as is the case for many, is stamina. He just doesn't have the kind of pace to continue the way he fights for close to 12 rounds against someone like Golovkin when Golovkin stands up to him. His power is less of the one punch variety and more heavy handed. That doesn't bode well against a strong counter puncher. Lemeiux will lose every single exchange he gets in with Golovkin. And he isn't the kind of fighter to effectively go in-and-out throughout a fight.

I think you are very much overrating Lemeiux. I appreciate N'dam more than the next guy, but still. He's C+ at the very best. A b@d@ss and entertaining C+, maybe, but still C+.

I agree that it would be tough to find MW's who fight with pressure or rely on power who will trouble Golovkin. Once he moves up in weight that will change, as it always does, but I agree on your opinion that pressure and high volume fighters are made for him. Boxers with head movement and well timed counters? Yet to be seen.
