Will David Tua ever have another chance at making an impact?

It's certainly possible, however, you have to consider that Sultan stayed away very well from Briggs' power, hell, he even stayed away from Holyfield. I was not really happy with his lack of agression there, but i think he'll be wise enough not to go toe to toe with Tua.

 

As someone already said in a post, Tua will get his title shot in 08 if he keeps winning. I heard something a couple weeks back about Tua getting a shot at Wlad, that would be interesting to see if Tua can land that big left hook and make Wlad panic. I personally would pay PPV type money to see that fight, it would be Tua's last chance if he lost though.

 

Remember, Tua took 2.5 years off to rest his body and fight his managers. He's doing the right thing, fighting tomato cans until he can get his skills and conditioning back. He's gone from 252 to 234 in his last fight. He's maintained that weight between fights and is eating clean. He was derailed by his close friend and advisor as well as his auntie passing away last month, thereby cancelling his third fight in three months. He's looking to step it at the end of this year. Talk is he'll be fighting Sherman "Tank" Williams or Chris Arreleo. A fight with Sam Peter or Johnny Ruiz would draw big.

 

Tua's still got to prove to the public he can last with anything other than tomato cans. Why is he being mentioned as a title contender at this point? On the same page as Wlad even!?

At this point Tua is a wannabe, and his fans are dreamers!! Lets just wait and see what tips out of the frying pan in the next 12 months. Tua always seems to be the nice guy and the one derailed by his friends, yet has Tua recently displayed any real lasting committment to anything? let alone to anybody?

 

Exactly, I don't know what he's waiting for. Fight someone on the way up or at least a Ruiz, Moorer or Mesi. Rahman is riding the tomato can express as well in his latest bid to be relevant to the HW landscape. :-( I swear, either Tua or Rahman are gonna announce that they're fighting Gilberto Martinez or Crawford Grimsley again.................

 

Sherman Williams isn't good enough but Chris Arreola would be a good start.

I think Sultan fights too smart & too safe to be KO'd by Tua.

 

Which belt should he try for in your opinion? I think any of the REAL beltholders beats him easily. Peter vs. Tua would be a good matchup and I might favor Tua.

 

Shamrock, Tua is not a wannabe, he's a wuz. I don't understand why fighting tomato cans to get your skills and conditioning back before facing the elite is a problem. He's looking to step up later this year. I agree, then we'll see what he's got. Also agree, Tua hasn't done anything to be a contender for a title. But he's in a good position to fight a contender, win, and then challenge for the title.

He'll just be making impacts on the buffet lines.

 

Much like Mesi, Tua seems to be very real about how fast he's progressing, and hence, he takes either very slight steps up in competition, or sidesteps................

But, I guess Tua knows how much he's regained, and how much he's yet to gain in order to be able to finally reenter the upper tiers.

As has been said, he's only 34 and has certianly got plenty of time. But he's done well in his last couple of fights (much like Mesi). Tua must be gaining confidence with his last two impressive wins............that's gotta feel good and must make him feel that he's about ready to start stepping up, now, at long last...................I'll bet we'll see Tua take a sizeable step up in competition level shortly.

:good The division is always more exciting when you've got a powerhouse like Tua around who has legendary KO power in both hands.

 

He would have the best chance against either Maskaev or Peter. I think Maskaev would have some success, but I think Tua would stop him. I would pick Tua by TKO over Peter to be honest. But both good/competitive fights though.

I think Ibragimov and Chagaev both outbox Tua and stay away. And I don't even have to mention Wladimir

 

Tua is fat and slow.
The only impact he makes now is the ground he waddles......sorry, walks upon.
