I'm interested in what flaws you see so far, both technical and physical. Thanks.

Releford is pretty tough. If Wilder is really flawed, he could get exposed in that fight. But we'll have to see what Wilder really has first.

His chin sucks, and his defense is pourous. The latter might change, but the former probably won't. And the fact that his defense still sucks 3 years into his pro career really isn't a good sign. Look at, say, Tyson Fury. He went pro around the same time as Wilder. Now, look at the two of them now versus then. Fury has progressed SO much further in the same amount of time. He seems willing to learn and implement. Wilder still seems like the same guy he was with almost no experience. IMO, he's a slow learner, and at his age, he'll have a really tough time ever learning good enough defense to be a top guy. Lots of talent, but it takes a hell of a lot more than that to be a top fighter, as I've learned over the years. If he could adopt a style similar to Wlad, he might be really good because it would hide his bad chin. That said, it seems like he's trying to do that but just plain failing because he can't execute worth a lick. Thus, I don't think he'll amount to much. I'd like him to prove me wrong though.

Addendum: If I were to pick a current HW that Wilder reminds me most of, I would say Travis Walker.

Good choice. I'd say they have similar punch resistance!

  6. I think he's living off of his height. He's gonna get KO'd by a guy who is 7 inches shorter and rethink his whole life.

For one of the first times ever, we agree on something. I'm hesitant to call anyone who puts his life in someone else's fists something like a "glass jawed fraud", but his chin is certainly way below average for a top HW.

    You guys crack me up.
He got knocked down ONCE, and it was in the amateurs when he had almost no experience. Glass chin, yeah right.

And no defense? Do you know anything about boxing? Have you ever boxed?
He looks fine to me. He attacks carefully, he backs away AND to the side after hard flurries, and he knows how to use his reach advantage. - All excellent defensive skills.

Granted, Wilder needs to develop certain skills, but the only thing bad you can say about his defense is that it hasn't been tested against A-level opponents yet. That's not the same as having no defense.

Vitali or Vladimir Klitschko should fight Wilder in MSG, NY, NY, USA. Vitali/Johnson sold out in a huge snow storm!!!

I've seen him down once and wobbled twice more in the pros. Considering his level of competition thus far, to be something good, he would need to become something pretty great defensively.

Have to see him fight a top 50 opponent before can give an honest opinion. In fairness though I usually don't expect 6'5 or over fighters to come into their peak until over 30 so in that sense Wilder still has 2 or 3 years of improvements to come.

Still not quite sure what Golden boy are planing to do with him. You never know, they maybe are padding his record with the goal of avoiding everybody and cashing out against a Klitschko or Povetkin.
