If he keeps fighting the likes of Molina or anyone on his resume before the title fight, he can break it twice.

Sure, just 16 more stiffs in his hometown and he's
    broken it.

The mandatory against Povetkin will put a 1 there unless he manages to somehow dodge for 15 fights.

Of course he can.and could also break Louis record.i would like to see Wilder rematching Audley Harrison.make it in Wembley, could be remembered in the future,in same line with Foreman-Ali in Zaire or Ali-frazier in Philippins.

After That maybe Briggs, then Thompson,Solis,Ruddock and of course between these megafights take couple of tuneups.and there we are 50-0 and locked top 10ATG

Wilder imo is a very poor fighter who is going to get chinned soon. I don't see any skill or longterm upside in this guy.

Nope he won't even get close, but he might well be regarded as one of the most fun to watch. Big power+questionable chin= exciting fights.

Most of Wilders KOs look like they were in high school gyms.

If he keeps fighting the Molinas of the world, perhaps, but even that bum coulda KTFO Wilder if he pursued it in rd. 3. Wilder is the biggest hype job since Broner

He could play off a Povetkin fight in Russia (setting up Pov for a big unification fight) against a Wlad fight in Germany ... and take the best deal for him. Both sides really want the WBC belt for different reasons. Cash out - retire with millions after one loss.

Or try to milk it and get beaten ... missing a chance at a really big fight for all time.

After winning a Major belt he is not able to go on with fighting tomato cans.. so i dont even see him goingt to 40-0 I more see a 35-1 happen

He has more of a chance to beat Tyson's record of being the youngest ever HW champ, or Valuev's as the biggest HW champ of all times if you catch my drift.

Seems doubtful, unless he goes back to fighting cans, which I don't think he will get away with now he has the belt and the spotlight.

His chin looks a bit too suspect and the way he was backing stright up, hands down chin out last sat will spell trouble against a world class opponent.

His best chance would be to hope Wlad retires and Joshua doesn't turn out to be as good as he looks like he might be at the moment.

Scuba Scott is open to a 16 fight (16 round) deal I've heard. Also Charlie Z is prepared to step in if Wilder needs a sterner test.

Wilder might break the record if he keeps fighting opposition with the level of Molina or Zelenoff
