I don't think it was that dangerous of a fight for Wilder. I like Ortiz and knew he'd put up a challenge, but also knew he wouldn't be able to last the distance or knock Wilder out, which I'm sure Wilder and his team were also aware of. Also, despite Ortiz being a very skilled southpaw and having excellent timing he has a bad habit of squaring up and leaving him self open for right hands, which Wilder took full advantage of.

Really 2 mill a fight ain't too bad, only the most popular fighters get paid more and AJ has been set up well and has played his part so the result is a huge money making train..

No one in the HW division is making anywhere near the coin AJ is.

If AJ wasn't around atm no one would be getting more than 2 million, we would all be calling Wilder the cash cow..

What about Mark Breland who is also manager/ trainer ?

come on now ...that's 4 guys and possibly sneaky Dibella putting his hands in pockets too.....

Twenty % is the norm so the 50% is more beleivable.

You anticipated the bell saving him?

How does that not show you it was certainly a dangerous fight? Makes no sense.

The fact is Wilder admitted he had underestimated Ortiz and that's why he in all likelihood took the fight as Ortiz age also came into question!

The bell didn't save him. Wilder never went off his feet. I said Ortiz would present a challenge and he did, but being a challenge isn't the same as being able to win. Wilder's team clearly knew Ortiz was going to gas out and he did. I dont't think anybody currently in the heavyweight division has the gas tank to beat Wilder. Fury active and in top shape would have a good chance of winning, but its doubtful that he'll every get back to that level.

Dibella and Haymon are advisors and neither take more than 15%. Also, Jay Deas is the head trainer/manager and gets a flat fee, so why would Breland, who isn't a manager, but an assistant trainer also get a flat fee.

Reminds me a bit of Golovkin, just with less years as a champ and a better name on his resume than GGG had after three years of having a world title.

Yeah once the Joshua fight happens, which it will. If not then as a cash out with a dangerous opponent on the road after he picks up his first loss
