My last amateur fight was in January and my coach has something ready for late july or early august. It took a while cus i was falling behind in school and injured my hand so i wasnt training as much so i gained a bit more weight than usual.

I started training focused last week and i am 15 pounds heavier than usual! I have to train hard now so i was wondering if weight training could help me or will it just slow the process of making weight?

Im really a beginner when it comes to weight training so i dont know if i should do weights and cardio or just run everyday and with the gymwork that should be enough.

    Appreciate the help.

I started lifting a couple of months ago and now I have to lose weight for a tournament. This is the hardest I've had to try to lose weight. I don't have any fat left to lose and burning through muscle is hard. If you need to drop 15 pounds, you're not going to do it by lifting. Besides, you need cardio for your conditioning.

If you need to lose weight, I suggest running.

Weight training will help you lose weight, but only if you are kind of fat. If you are already fairly lean, it won't do much and might even make you gain lbs.

If you've got fat to burn, it may help you lose that. If your quite lean, you are only building on top of muscle and not stripping any fat, so you are only getting heavier aside from the water weight you may lose.

Muscle weighs more than fat and is harder to get rid of. Do anaerobic stuff, such as running or swimming
