I agree but I think it comes down to the fact that they (the boxing public and fans)will never forgive Curry for being the great hope for boxing that he was after McCrory and losing to Honeyghan and soon after by one punch to McCallum. He could never overcome those losses.

good question and yes but for some reason it seems they want to make him "earn" it. i think floydfan has definied the mentality behind holding him back, and many voters are punishing him for his loses.

I am not optimistic that he will. He was an outstanding fighter without question, but his streak of greatness was too short lived and his losses too devastating.

I think he will, eventually. I was a little surprised Johnson is in before, just reading, but happy for Johnson, at least.

Mark too Sharp Johnson deserves it. Donald Curry? He does too I think. He will probably make it sometime. I do not know how the names are put into nomination. Is he in there every year or every 5? How does that work?

Probably so. Odd how that one fight with Mike McCallum assured Mike of HOF status but has sort of kept Donald out of the HOF.

I have been on the International Boxing Hall of Fame Committees to pick the Modern and Old-Timers for years.

On the modern (Last bout no earlier than 1943) they have 45 names and on the old-timers (Last bout no earlier than 1893 & no later than 1942) they have 50. On both we can pick as many as 10 but only the top 3 get in.

In each group they pick 3 as I stated, and then the next year they add 3 more so it stays at 45 and 50.

He'll get in eventually, but it's hardly the biggest tragedy if he doesn't.

There's plenty of better fighters that probably never will.

what are Donald's chances to get in your think?? if you can say. I suppose each year the odds go up or down according to who is in the list.

At his best, Donald was very good. People just remember his loses.

I did vote for him, but I know many who didn't.

well you are right. Many remember his losses. I cannot forget the night he lost to Honeyghan and then knocked out in 5 rounds just 10 months later by McCallum. His fights to win the title with Hwang and then defenses Colin Jones, Starling,McCrory were impressive. Hard to say what was his decline. Sometimes I think it was similar to Tyson. Tyson and Curry defensively relied on perfect reflexes and sharpness and mental focus, and once that was affected a little, everything seemed to be affected. I know not many have compared Curry to Tyson.
