    What do we think?

    Summer 2021

I think you always have to follow the money which means Fury AJ next year, Usyk has to wait.

He can't duck him without surrendering his belt.

Too much dough on the line. Eddie was talking again today about them fighting twice next year. You can hear the lust in his voice. He is also loving chiseling out Wilder.

Isn't that Usyk? AJ has to vacate a belt to fight Fury?

    Belts don't mean anything anyway.

Usyk is the mandatory for Joshua's title. An interviewer asked Usyk if Joshua must fight him. Usyk said he must fight or vacate.

The winner of Fury Vs AJ is the undisputed champion regardless of where the belts are

Corrupt organizations do not dictate this status.

Time to vacate. Inherited them belts anyway.

Let that organisation cry that they will lose their sanctioning fees, or they will weasel a way out and say AJ doesn't have to vacate.

He must fight Usyk or vacate his WBO title.

I see AJ doing whatever he can do to keep his unification chances on the line. That is going to be his legacy if he can get it done.

I don't see how Uysk is a "duck" for AJ when he knows the Fury fight has to happen for a full unification. Fury has a much easier situation considering he only needs to defend the WBC.

It’s a no brained. 10 to 20 millions more in pay difference. I don’t blame any man going after that kind of money. And the WBC belt

Usyk is the easier opponent but there's too much money and legacy on the line not to fight Fury.

I'd be surprised if Joshua surrenders the World Heavyweight Title.

Usyk said happiness does not lie in money and that if he was offered step aside money he would refuse it.

good for Usyk but don’t think Fury or AJ cares about his happiness.

Fury has been the Ring #1 for 5 years. Yes I agree with you its not all about the belts.

But considering AJ vs. Fury is going to be the climax of their primes I think it makes a great deal of sense to take care of their mandatories first and hope for doing in front of a packed arena in the UK later. There has already been too much ducking of mandatories going on to put forward elite matchups.

I may be getting overly cynical but I can't help thinking that this situation is almost by Hearn's design.

We all wanted to see all the belts on the line, but the truth is by this stage it doesn't make the fight any bigger. If the WBA, WBC, IBF, Ring, Lineal, IBO aren't enough to make the fight matter, then the identity of the two men themselves is sufficient. We know that the winner of those fights is effectively the world's first undisputed champion since Lennox Lewis, no matter who holds the WBO strap.

    But....

Splitting the belts beforehand means that a canny promoter then has another bite at the mega fight cherry. They can bill the winner of the AJ/Fury match vs winner of Usyk v Parker as the undisputed match. Eddie of course is promoting Usyk and will likely have some sort of relationship with Parker. So even if Fury has taken out AJ, Matchroom will still be in the HW game into 2022.
