I am not entirely sure if Joshua and Hearn want that smoke in a big rematch in the UK in front of 90.000 crazy soccer fans in a few months.

This wasn't a lucky punch loss.

This was a first class beatdown. Rd 1 and 2 were close, after Joshua dropped Ruiz in the third round it turned into a FIRST CLASS BEATDOWN where Joshua took some big punishment. He wasn't even able to take part at the post fight presser as he had medical attention. He couldn't feel his legs fully after the fight. He was okay but not in good condition at all.

Everyone who is following Ruiz quiet a bit knows he's a gym rat and has great work ethic although he doesn't look like that. He probably will train even harder for the rematch and will come in with the best shape of his entire career.

I fully expect a even more brutal stoppage in the rematch.

Joshua should fight Whyte in a rematch next. He already beat Whyte and Whyte isn't very good. Better fight for him. He can fight Ruiz later on. Ruiz should fight Pulev next. Wilder will fight Ortiz in September so i doubt Wilder will have another fight before March 2020. Fury also said he will have 2-3 stay busy fights. And those two are probably the only guys who could come close to beat Ruiz right now. I doubt Pulev will beat Ruiz with his jab only. Ruiz should cruise to an UD there.

Hearn need to rebuild AJs confidence.

It's a clear thing: If they're forcing the rematch next it could be a career ending loss for Joshua in front of 90k british soccer fans. Not really a thing you wish your worst enemy.

Hearn better take care of Joshua or he ruins him.

This is a crucial point in Joshuas career and if he receives another major beatdown within six months he either has to call it a career or he gets stopped over again and again.

I hope Hearn will be smart here. Not going for the big money. Joshua vs. Whyte for example would be still a huge fight in the UK and a big PPV although without a belt on the line.

Big Andy is a fighter through and through, whereas Joshua is an elite athlete who happens to have turned his hand to Boxing. As you alluded to, Ruiz will have the advantage of a 12 week camp next time around, during which he will be able to focus solely on preparing for Joshua. This is what makes me believe Big Andy will repeat the result even more conclusively in October or November.

After this systematic beating, it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if Eddie Hearn, rather than coddle Joshua and attempt to rebuild him, actually begins the process of cashing Joshua out, ala Kell Brook from the Golovkin fight onwards.

What is the alternative? What are Joshua's options at this stage?

He will obviously have to discuss with the whole team, but he himself has made it clear that he will not be taking any other fights or warm up's prior to a rematch unless it is Wilder/Fury.

If I was AJs manager, I would have him come back against Pulev. Then Id do the rematch with Whyte... and then have the big showdown with Usyk.

Pulev to get his groove back. Whyte because it will test AJ again and allow him to overcome some adversity and win a fight fight. And then the Usyk one because thats a very big fight in its own right.

All the while the team and AJ are also constantly prepping for Ruizs style and how to neutralize him in a rematch.

I think going straight back at him right now is a huge mistake.

So you want him to fight a more dangerous fighter ,Whyte in hopes he doesn't take an L and not fight a short guy he just fought which would benefit him now not later bc there is no other short guys in top 10 that would prepare him for a Ruiz type fighter ?

    Makes perfect sense. lol

I don't think you guys realize that Ruiz isn't ahead of a few guys off one win. guys who AJ beat like whyte and Povetkin would be favored over Ruiz .

Assuming team AJ actually are smart the rematch will happen ,for two reasons.

1.Joshua will still be favored bc its a very winnable fight ( I know that's hard to believe for most on here..lol) )

    2. If someone else defeats Ruiz it will be worse ,they would be dumb to even chance that.

Won't get 90K at Wembley now. Casuals are fickle, nobody likes a loser and Joshua stunk the place out last night. He is a national embarrassment.

All I want is for Andy to come in clean shaven and done up like King Hippo for the ring entrance for his title defense. Against who, it doesn't matter. Then my life will be complete.

I agree but it’s necessary to rebuild Joshua’s brand. I think they really miscalculated choosing Ruiz, they knew it was a bad style for Joshua and they went through with it. When you have the Wilder fight waiting you don’t take those risks.
I still think Joshua vs Wilder is 50/50 but it has lost its lustre.
I favour Ruiz in the rematch for the reasons you mentioned. For Joshua to win he is going to need to fight a perfect, disciplined fight for a boring points win.
What I think will happen is that Ruiz will win again, Fury will beat Wilder (again) and then we’ll get the battle between Wilder and Joshua for the chance to fight the winner of Ruiz and Fury (Fury). I give Joshua a better chance of beating Fury than Wilder. Usyk being the wildcard.

Every fighter knows that AJ's chin is achilles heel and the only way to win against him is to get into a dog fight against him.

Joshua has to fight the rematch and try to regain his titles. His brand would be in the toilet if he walked away and didn’t at least try to avenge his loss. Also, I doubt Whyte would even be interested in fighting Joshua if there aren’t any titles on the line.

I would like AJ to go the WBC route. Fight Kownacki next in the US and beg Wilder for a shot at his title next year. Wilder did mention fighting Ortiz, Fury and Joshua. Hopefully Wilder sticks with that in that order. If it was meant to be, then AJ would come through that route with the WBC title and then he can meet Ruiz for a unification/rematch fight late next year.
