Evidently he's got power, but he's knocked out nothing but complete tomato cans, journeyman and C- level opposition. Took him 10 rounds to get rid of Vicente Mosquera for **** sake. I doubt he'd be knocking out world-class opposition left, right & centre. I reckon they could take his punches far better than the fighters who's been matched against so far. He's far more likely to end up far down on the canvas himself.

I agree fully. He is deceptively hard to hit and can go into an evasive counter puncher role if his opponent gets very aggressive. See the Mosquera fight, which is a very underrated, largely unknown fight that's very action-packed and very fun to watch. It was the only time Valero has been down and legitimately wobbled.

Vicente Mosquera wasn't bad at all. The guy was a WBA superfeather weight champion and had a ton of heart and very good skills. He was a boxer with a crisp jab. For some inexplicable reason though, he decided to brawl with Valero, blatantly ignoring the instructions from his frantic corner. Unfortunately, the beating he took from Edwin destroyed his career.

Nothing but words from Valero himself. Of course he's going to say that he beat Oscar up and gave him that black eye. Sparring means nothing, I'll take what I've actually seen from actual fights thankyou very much.

Actually, Oscar's conditioning coach, Robert Garcia, discussed what happened at camp. Basically a 130lb Valero was killing Oscar and the 8 rounds Edwin spent beating him up was a mirror image of what happened in the real Pacquiao fight. Oscar getting tooled is the reason why Nacho kicked Valero out of camp claiming he was too rough for Oscar despite objections from Garcia. This was with headgear and large 16oz gloves. No one at 135lbs and using 8oz gloves will stand up to Valero's assault. He'll only be seriously tested when he moves to 140 and fights bigger men.

Valero-DeMarco is already scheduled for February and is official. It will be aired on Showtime. They're just trying to find a location for the card (probably in Tijuana).

I suspect Valero will win, but it's always hard for me to tell with guys like him who are okay (but not great boxers) but have game-changing power. Some guys like that make it really far (Abraham, Darchinyan, etc.), while some flounder as soon as someone exposes one or two of their flaws (Miranda, Lacy, Urango, etc.) On a pure talent level, he's better than that second group, but I do think that DeMarco is about as tough of a style matchup as there is for him. A long guy with a stiff jab who can avoid brawling could very well outbox Valero. The two questions, which are both unanswered in my mind, are (a) how well can Valero cut off the ring and (b) how well can DeMarco take a punch?

While I don't think DeMarco is a worldbeater by any stretch, Valero's fight against him should help answer some important questions.

The fight is pretty much scheduled and is to air on Showtime so I excect Valero will run over Valesquez and then face DeMarco. That should be a very good fight. Demarco is proving to be a solid fighter, his problem is that I think he's too hittable for a guy who can whack like Valero. Should be a good fight that Valero wins by k.o.

Dude was probably trying to take Oscar's head off and make a name for himself. It was just sparring.

DeMarco can't seem to decide whether he is a brawler or boxer it seems. Jose Reyes(the guy that antonio pitalua KTFO in a potential KO of the year) barely lost a SD to DeMarco and spanked him down the stretch. Adjaho outboxed and rocked DeMarco pretty badly before he pulled an idiotic move and got himself TKOed complaining about being hit behind the head. If Valero applies intelligent pressure and waits for the right moment I think he'll end things in 4-5 rounds once DeMarco makes a mistake or suffers a lapse in concentration.
