Spence took a career beating man, as much as I love Spence as a fighter that was hard to watch. Reminded me alot of the beating Vargas took from Tito. Vargas was more competitive and way younger, sure, but he was never the same after that. His punch resistance was diminished, his coordination was diminished, and his speech got alot slower as time went on. Could Spence face the same struggles if he chooses to continue in the sport? How he looks in his next fight is going to be crucial.

Vargas was young though and arguably put in too soon with Tito.
Spence basically cashed out with Crawford after years of svoiding each other.
Its different and more in line Bhop vs Tito than that Vargas fight.

I hate to say it, but yes. Got ruthlessly punished by Crawford and smashed his face on the concrete after being thrown from a speeding car. Plus the alcohol. That'll make you age quick and do a number on your punch resistance, athleticism, and reflexes. Hope I'm wrong.

No, Spence was prime as prime can be.

Vargas was known for boozing as well, before and after the fight with Tito. Well see how he looks at 54 but if he gets dropped in his next fight against someone not Bud Crawford then we know Spence is damaged.

To be fair Vargas fought Tito when he was very young

Thought about this very same thing with the Tito fight in reference in the afternoon, ditto.

To be frank, I think that Errol Spence got bored with his popularity, he went the Leon Spinks route on the road.

Different circumstances. Vargas was 23 years old when he lost to Tito but he at least made the fight competitive and even scored a KD before getting stopped in the final round. I’d say Vargas got thrown in the wolves too early. I think the ODLH loss was where he was never truly the same.

Spence took his beating from Crawford at age 33. How his career will look moving forward remains to be seen.
