225 is OK, if he drops below 225 hes probably going to get his arse kicked in the heavies nowadays. Hes only a small guy blown up; he's also 40.
I think the best chance he has to be below 220 ever again is if he doesn't drink a lot of water between rounds tomorrow, then weighs himself immediately after the fight.
Because he drained and dehydrated himself down from 200 pounds. It's why he fought every two months early in his career. Constant activity helped keep his weight down. Toney's best fighting weight is 190-195 pounds, but give the guy a break, he's 40, has spent years yo-yoing up and down in weight, and realistically will never get back to under 200. Has he been fat? Sure he has, but you guys ripping him for it miss the point; he's the oldest of the old school fighters, we won't see another guy like him--maybe ever--so even an out of shape Toney is entertaining as hell to watch if you love the game. I hope he wins tomorrow but something tells me he won't. Still doesn't diminsh his great career at any weight.
ok well we all know vargas like to gorge inbetween fights. thats his problem. also if i had to compare toney to vargas id say vargas looks better physically than toney. plus toney has been up to like 270 in the past. i dont think vargas has ever been that high
He ballooned up to that before training for the Mayorga fight. He's probably close to that now. To his credit, he always got down to 154 until the last fight.
i cant see vargas at 270. the guy who is clowning me is just a hater. and youre right vargas never thought of fighting at HW cause he was a fat lard and couldnt lose weight....unlike toney
http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/boxing/news/story?id=3125116 Both fighters weighed 164 pounds at Thursday's weigh-in -- a startling development for Vargas considering he admittedly ballooned to 264 following his second loss to Mosley.
