Bull****? Did he give up his belt? No. Had he, then he'd be rankled by the others. The point is, no one was obligated to fight him. He was 2-1 vs. top WW's at the time. And all he has was Margarito on his resume who was ranked. Quintana only got ranked AFTER beating Williams. Does that allow him to command big fights? **** man...most guys go through many top contenders before they try to play that card. Williams seemed to be looking for the eay way to the 'elite'. And I say that as a big Paul Williams fan. I wanted him to drop the WBO belt. Or at least fight in one division long enough to COMMAND the top guys. Not calling out everyone after one solid win.
nope theres no need to wait because he will not fight paul williams ever im 100% sure of that and so should every body else its floyd mayweather were talking about here
Mayweather's a frustrating fighter to be a fan of. Although I personally love his slick style (which many hate), I take a lot of issue with the choices he's made since 2007. A lot of people just hate the way he's handled his career since the Castillo fights. I agree to an extent, but the reason I'm more critical of him now is because he's in a position to pick the fights he wants. He's not on the outside looking in, he's one of the biggest stars in the sport and everyone wants to fight the big stars. After the Hatton fight, he negotiated a bull**** rematch with DLH, then "retired" when he wasn't happy with the purse split. Yeah I know money motivates most people, but what does that do for me as a fan? He had other choices, like Mosley and Cotto, and in addition he had high risk/low reward fighters like Williams and Margarito. Instead he took 21 months off. Marquez was a decent opponent considering the layoff (the "retirement" itself I'm more critical of since I knew it was bull****), but now the list of opponents for his next bout looks shitty, with the exception of Cintron, which is an okay (not good) choice. **** or get off the pot. He has to fight the Mosley/Berto winner or Pacquiao soon.
Yeah, but maybe he waiting on Berto/Mosley winner. Names like Hatton, Campbell and Cintron are being thrown but the Floyd camp is dead silent. It could really go anywhere.
Thats the thing though the list of opponets hasn't come from his camp. Its all speculation. For all we know the list is Mosley/Berto winner, Williams. The thing is we don't know.
Man you went so far left with what I said it is ridiculous. Calm down. I am saying he IS worthy to fight FMJ. I just want to make sure that he is 100% comfortable at the weight FIRST. I don't want him to come to the ring looking like ODLH did when he fought Manny. I want him to fight at the weight and feel really good. He will NEVER get the chance again. I promise you that. Stumbles? I mean him getting out of WW when it was a rich division, hoping over JM, taking on Martinez when he probably wasn't ready, etc... Paul Williams is a great talent at 147. I am not criticizing him. I think he won the fight. However in terms of his career, you tell me what was gained in terms of his career in that brutal fight? Money? Recognition? A shot at a better fighter? What? I will tell you. Nothing. All risk no reward. Yeah you say he is tough, but you feed his kids a big plate of "tough". Calm your butt down. When did I mention his heart? I could care less if he was Mexican or Philipino. Read my posts and see the fighters I root for. Then come at me with that nonsense. For good or bad, my favorite fighter is Zab Judah. You put the pieces together.
Exactly. People can't hold it together when a Camp is actually acting disciplined! :nut They get so used to the constant conflicting press statements they think that is the way to be. Speak when you are as sure as possible of what your going to say... :good
#1 - He is extremely comfortable at 147. Its the higher weights he is having trouble with. I know a lot of people around here speculate about him still being able to make weight, but what the **** do they know. I'm telling you facts. #2 - He didn't leave the WW division because his team advised him. He left because Shane, Cotto, Floyd, or no other big names would fight him. He was forced out, It had nothing to do with his weight. #3 - That comment about heart wasn't necessarily directed at you. People on here who have never even been to a damn fight talk **** about him for struggling with a guy who hadn;t lost in 10 years, since Margarito. And I repeat, if he was Mexican, people would be talking about how ****ing tough he was. #4 - He gained more from that Martinez fight than he would have from sitting around doing nothing. He got stiffed by Pav's ***** ass (again). What was he supposed to do? #5 - I'm calm. Patnah!:fire
Well we agree on this. During the whole Pac negotiations Floyds camp acted like dignified professionals. It was always Bob Arum who leaked **** to the press. And he was the one who kept saying in the beginning that he would bot negotiate this deal in the press.
