I read Dan's article and I don't agree. Floyd is by far the most skilled and talented Boxer combined in this great sport, but his heart and will are not on level with PAC's in my opininon. PAC made a career off of fighting the very BEST opposition when no one thought he would or would win! That's what makes his accomplishments jump from a good win to a GREAT win. P4P is a way for fans to grasp the idea of a mythical match up between the best fighters in all weight classes given a catch weight on an even playing field. Talent wise FLoyd and PAC are on the level.....Skill wise Floyd is definitely ahead. I say that they are pretty much on a level playing field with regards to talent b/c PAC and FLoyd both have a **** load of it. What they have by GIFT is speed, Reflexes, Power, Athleticisim ect. Those are traits you don't learn...it's god given. you learn the skill and craft of boxing which Floyd has mastered most of. PAC is learning still and getting better. But PACs heart, determination and will gives him extra advantages over all his opponents.
Will Floyd gets respect? Hell NO! Unless he respects himself first and the fans by not talking out of his damn arse and stop acting like a biatch...
Sorry, but heart is not factored into P4P rankings. Even if it was, Floyd has done nothing to show that he lacks heart. He's fought plenty of fights with messed up hands. Two days before the first Castillo fight he ****ed up his shoulder, and his ribs were broke during the fight. He won a controversial decision and gave Castillo an immediate rematch. He's also made a career out of fighting bigger guys(unilike Pac who sweats himself down to an unnaturally smaller weight). So your argument that Pac has more heart and will is totally baseless. Pac has made a career out of fighting the best and winning fights no one thought he could win? Not lately. Barrera was old, coming off an ass whoopin, and struggled in two fights against Juarez. Pac was the overwhelming favorite. The fight before, he fought Solis. No one even knew who that was, and Pac was once again the overwhelming favorite. The fight before that he fought Larios. Larios was knocked out the fight before, was coming up two weight classes, and was a big underdog. Oh yeah, he was knocked out again in his next fight after Pac. Lastly, if you feel Floyd is way more skilled than Pac but they're about equal talent wise, then who's better?
No one ever said HEART was considered in the P4P rankings. The only things considered is level of opposition and the preformance or how well you dominated. I simply stated that Pac has a **** load of heart which is an advantage over most of his opponents...even ones with a lot of heart themselves. Floyd has done nothing to show lack of heart...you are correct...but what has he done to show he does have heart aside from stepping up to fight DLH? He hasn't ventured out to fight the very best in any division aside from the 135 wieght class. Since moving up he's faught good oppostition but shyed away from the key players for whatever reason. That shows he doesn't care about proving to himself! Just about getting to the next dollar bracket. LOL...I hope you know that PAC started below 122....his best weight is 126 IMO but he's grown out of that. He's not struggling to make 130. He's always right on weight. Pac challenges himself more than Floyd. Which is my BASE for validating that between the two PAC shows more heart.....Then you can go ahead and just look at the WARS that PAC had and how he overcame. Floyd....I know, Iknow...you cna't knock him for not having any wars b/c he's just that much better than the guys he's faced aside from JLC and DLH who offered his toughest challenges. But you can also say Floyd didn't TRY to make tougher challenges to test his skill and talent either. He went the Dollar route...the route where there is less risk and more money. You're right that lately PAC hasn't faught guys that no one believes he could win nor would even take b/c PAC is the MAN in his respective division. No one you match him with from 130 to 135 would be too good, too big or too strong to have them as a HUGE betting favorite. He's earned his respect and did it in dominating fashion. Which is why he won't have too many more fights that people are counting him out rather than making bets on which round PAC KO's his opponent. Floyd is the better technican...he has the skills over PAC. I say talent is about equal, but PAC has the intagibles that make him a freak of nature...he has the will and determination to win, to challenge himself agaisnt the best in his division...he's show HEART in the ring agaisnt warriors. I can't say who is the better fighter overall....but if the two were to fight in a mythical match up on even terms I'll always go with the boxer to win. They have that skill to fall back on always.
What has Floyd done to show he has heart? Read my post again, I give plenty of examples. Aside from that, just competing at this high a level in this sport is enough to prove he has heart. Floyd hasn't tried to fight the best since leaving 135? Please don't make me laugh. At 140 he tried to fight Hatton(ring champ) and was turned down. When he went to 147 he went after Judah(when they came to a preliminary agreement to fight Judah was the undisputed champ and the ring champ). After he beat Judah he fought Baldomir who was the new ring champ. I know exactly where Pac started out(108). He's still coming into his 130 lb fights 4 lbs. lighter than Floyd did in his last fight at 154. Pac looked drained in the weigh in against MAB. Pac has been in wars because the he lacks the skill and talent to properly defend himself. When was the last time Pac challenged himself. Fighting has beens, nobodies and gatekeeepers isn't much of a challenge. Now he supposedly wants to go to 135 and fight the weakest champion. You say Pac has built himself up to a point where no one will pick him to loose. Floyd has been like this for almost his whole career. Name a fighter you think Floyd would be the underdog against? You're very last line makes the most sense. That is, of course, that if Pac and Floyd fought on even terms you would pick Floyd. This is why Floyd is p4p number 1, not Pac.
