Will Floyd Mayweather Be The Best Fighter of this Decade if He beats Pac in 2010?

Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by angelos, Dec 6, 2009.

  1. I get it. I just don't care. "fighter of the decade" is a silly, arbitrary category anyway. Why we gonna get pedantic over three months.

Why not? If you're not going to draw the line somewhere, there is no discussion at all.

    Premature question!

After this fight is over, who would the winner face? Who is left that could beat this sort of hype?

Wouldn't that be a new decade?

Still he is the fighter of 2000-2009. Pac can only be good. Can't be great off of sloppy seconds, hahaha.

Mosley is in the ****ing equation.

Why aren't more people trying to push for a Mosley/Mayweather fight? I find this to be just as if not more appealing as Mayweather/Pacman.

Cotto is a tough fighter but I can't place him in the top tier. At one point he had a ton of hype but he has proven to just be a very solid fighter and not a great fighter.

Williams has been ducked by everyone. You can't talk about Mayweather ducking him without mentioning everyone else.

The fighter of this decade 2001-2010 will be decided by the result of the Pacquaio/Mayweather fight.

Just so everyone knows, this decade actually is 2000-2009.

This previous decade started January 1st 2000. January 1st 2010 is the start of a new decade.

If 2010 was a part of this decade, then you would have to say that 1990 was apart of the 80's, or that 1950 was apart of the 40's.

I've been seeing this mistake happening a lot lately (Being so close to a new decade and all) and it's starting to drive me a little crazy.....:D

Yep. I was thinking the same thing. Why is Mosley not being mentioned with these guys. Maybe he fights the winner? Or the loser, depending whether or not he beats Berto, I think it is.

No need to really push for that one. Mosely, for good or bad, has put himself in a career defining fight with Berto. The winner of that fight will be fighting Mayweather this fall/winter. Better question is after that fight THEN what?

Paul Williams has always been more hype (physical attributes) than substance (boxing skill). Still, he has a solid case for nobody wanting to fight him, but is that because he is so "good" or because he barely has fans and couldn't bring in his share of PPV buys? I think it is the PPV buys.

I don't care how bad you are, you do numbers someone will fight you! Mike Tyson never had a problem lining them up...

  12. Can't we just round off to the nearest year? It wouldnt be fair if PAC won "fighter of the decade" and Floyd didn't (cause it's not like he's gonna win the next one) only cause the fight was 3 months late.

Hard for people to wrap their head around. A decade is ten years. So ten places. Zero is the first place. So it goes 0 ... 9.

Because we still have to deal with Mosley/Berto and Pac/Mayweather. Though I have to say winner of those two fights need to fight each other. I mean I have to agree to be declared the best WW one could make a very good case for having to fight Mosley. Ultimately I want to see someone in this division reunite the belts there is a lot of talent right now.
