Hell no, you can't go around ducking the best and expect to be ranked as the best.

    "I'm not fighting for legacy."

"We're not fighting to prove to boxing fans, who the best is?"

    then say

"I just want to be the best."

Actually I think it could be a co-award. Mayweather definately was a greater fighter over the decade. Manny ended it with a bang. If this fight is a war? They MUST share this title. A decade is a LONG time for a boxer.... You miss that window...

At this stage in both men's careers it is kind of silly to act as though Mayweather will be fighting for another 10 years to maybe get the next one.

No you have to draw the distinction some where and March 2010 isn't where its done. It not anyone elses fault that Money decided to take a break from boxing when he was in his prime and its not like there was a lack of challenges. I mean I might cut him a break if he retired because there was no one to fight but he had Cotto, Mosley, and Williams, though I still have to say Williams is not a WW if your taller then 6' your too tall.

True, welterweight division was hot as **** when he left.

  5. I don't mean to be pedantic, but it's quite a stretch to say Floyd "destroyed" DLH.

Was Hatton really the #2 P4P at any stage? Was this a Ring ranking or your own retrospective ranking that you attributed to inflate PBF's achievements?

Yeah I agree. The DLH fight, wasn't that like really close? And as for Hatton, lets face it, he was made for Mayweather, a come forward guy VS a great counter puncher, it was hardly going to take a rocket scientist to work that one out.

  8. It was a split decision! :D

I think Floyd was the best fighter in the 1940's.

If Mayweather beats Pac convincingly, he will be the best fighter of our generation.

Unfortunately for Floyd, after he beats somebody, it's like that persons entire career gets re-evaluated and nerfed.

At the time, Hatton was seen as at least top 5 p4p, people were still up and arms about his win over Kostya Tszyu. It was the fight that everyone wanted to see, just like this fight with Pacman, Floyd took it, won it convincingly, and yet he does not get any credit for it.

F[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dt6B9QF7WW0"][/ame]loyd beat a much gamer Hatton then Pacman and did it just as convincingly.

    Whatever about this decade.
If Floyd can beat Pacquiao, the Mosely/Berto winner and maybe go up and beat a champ at 154(assuming Williams is still champ at 154,that would be a good fight),then he could probably retire as a top 5 ATG.

Not true...had Floyd beaten Hatton at 140 I would agree. Hatton was considered to be unbeatable at 140 before Pac destroyed him.

No. It would put him in top 20 maybe even top 10 that ones a big maybe. Cracking top 5 is going to be hard to do and I just don't think Mayweather has that many years left.
