Will Floyd Mayweather become more well appreciated as time goes on?

I don't think so. Probably less because he handpicked and things like that are easier to see after time. People forget the mediocre guys and realize when he fought the top guys he fought them when they were old. No his legacy will always be affected by his handpicking. He will be seen as a guy who marketed things well and made a lot of money. His standard will be used for other guys to earn money. Broner wanted to do that, but he is not a good fighter who that hurt him. You have to have the product to at least beat guys when you handpick them.

He beat the pfp 2 (behind himself) and current lineal 160 champ post age 35.

Oscar and Shane were never beating him. Shane ducked if want to get specific. His teeth hurt.

The reason I feel like it makes it more valid to some is because the idiot quoted below for example... Seems to believe his opinion is superior because I'm apparently new to boxing according to his attempts at being funny and what it is they seem to infer. He's wrong and the reason I'm saying it is so that people do not think my opinions are blinded by the fact I'm some fanboy of his, which I'm absolutely not, rather it is many others who seem to let their judgement become clouded by their hatred for him.

You need to get out more if this is your attempt at being funny. Cringing for you.
Nothing to offer then? In terms of actually adding to the conversation? I'll take it not so.
I'll reiterate, I hated the whole farce of the McGregor facade and even listening to you trying to joke about me being a fan of that is irritating. I hated the joy of the casuals every bit as much as anyone through that being in the pipeline, being announced, and then building up. Two absolute numpties entering into a foregone conclusion is not my cup of tea.

I'd advise you to add something instead of the "I know more than you" attitude you're displaying at the moment. Otherwise you really do look silly, considering that the truth is that you don't.

Not really, as Cotto started out at 140.

Also, If I think I remember correctly in the Canelo interview Floyd wanted to drain him to 147 and told him to keep quiet about it, he said it wasn't possible and they went up from there

So did Canelo. Both out-grew the division.

If you really think Floyd is "the best ever" then:

    1) You started watching boxing on Wednesday
    2) I do indeed know more than you
    3) You need to unclamp your hands from his nutsack
    4) General is the other direction. There will be fellow groupies to support you there

Floyd is indeed an exceptional boxer, and as I said earlier, a good case can be made for him being the best of his era. On the other hand, his resume can be torn up on many levels. TBE? GTFOH.

And Canelo struggles to make MW now. Cotto is bloated at MW.

Hm, I'm not sure compares favourable to guys like Canzoneri or Walker who roughly would sit there.

Maywather's standing is and my guess will be hampered for the same reason as Jones'. He was a business man first and a fighter second. Which is good if you want to make a lot of money while staying healthy but not so good for your legacy because you are gonna miss out on those legacy-making fights since they are to dangerous. Floyd was incredibly talented, impressively disciplined and skilled. He could have gone down history as one of the true atgs but his safety first approach to his career will always hold him back legacy-wise.
If you look how the resumes of accepted (and loved) atgs like Dempsey, Duran, Hearns, even Ali are picked on ... if the same standards are applied to Mayweather his resume barely holds together.
To me him and Jones are big disappointments. They were destined to end up as Top10 p4p atgs and give as great fights against the best opponents available. They fell short of both. At least Mayweather is getting out of it with his health and wealth intact. So, he won anyway.

Which doesn't invalidate the fact the fact junior middleweight Cotto still looked drained against Pac.

Not as drained as Canelo. Canelo's output was horrendous.

Floyd could have stopped in R7. Compare that to the Canelo that fought Cotto in terms of output & movement.
