Floyd's plan: Floyd promises a brawl in maypac 2 and claims it's "for the fans" and "for boxing". It's his last fight, he wants to excite the fans and go out with a bang. This raises the number of buys, makes him more popular and also sets him up to have a great reason when he intentionally loses. No one believes he'll brawl, but he's true to his word and comes out brawling. The fans are amazed and it's an epic fight. He gets knocked out, but everyone knows he could've out-pointed Manny for an easy win. Floyd then demands another rematch. He then gets the rematch, makes $200m and wins to have 2/3 against Pacquiao. He has sold his 0 for $200m but will gain some popularity. He retires with 50-1 with an extra $200,000,000 in the bank
Don't know which is more important to him, the money or that "0". I have thought about what your saying though...
Your scenario is not factoring in that Pac is a diva. He would whine that he beat Floyd so he should get a better split. He and Bob were already whining that they deserve a bigger split in a rematch for that poor showing on May 2nd.
I always considered a trilogy. Boxing is a business and I'd take 200,000,000 dollars in exchange of a 50-1. It's possible, but I just felt Mayweather losing the first time is better. Then again...if he lost the first time, then he would lose a ton of negotiating power in the second fight. Now, he squeezes Pac of everything the second fight since he won and then they can go for the 50/50 in the third which would easily set the new record. That definitely makes sense. I still feel Mayweather wouldn't do this, but holy hell that would be the ultimate con move EVER!
It would basically be a victimless con. It would make a lot of people very happy. He could also use the brawling loss to prove that he was never just about keeping the 0. His legacy would probably be better. It would be a memorable trilogy where Floyd would be remembered for giving up his 0 for the fans. He'd be remembered as the better fighter when he came back and won the third fight. Surely this idea has entered his head.
Lol thats an interesting scenario If he came out brawling, he could well knock Pacquiao out Pacs chin has been shattered Like the above posters said, that 0 means more to him than money, he's already a multi millionaire
what about his quote "money isn't everything, it's the only thing" i'm not saying i think he will do this, but there is potential for an epic trilogy and $200,000,000 and also he'd gain some fans and might have a more memorable/likeable legacy.
He will first need to inform the ref and his judges that he will take a dive otherwise they will think it's a new super trick and still award him the decision in the middle of the fight.
