We all know that Pretty boy likes big gloves.

I think it will have a big effect in the fight with Pac, the extra cushioning, the blocking abilities will make all the difference.

Does anyone think Floyd will get his way?

Do you have any learning disabilities? The fights been agreed upon with 8oz gloves.

And describe how he likes big gloves? He's worn them once and he was forced too...

My understanding is that Welterweights use 10oz gloves for title fights.......

.......if this is true as I'm led to believe, then yes, the fight should be fought with 10oz gloves.

Let each fighter chose their prefered brand.

In Las Vegas any fight 147 pounds and up have to use 10oz gloves unless both camps want 8oz gloves like in the Cotto/Margarito fight. In New York they use 8oz for 147 pound fights.

I'm not certain if thats true or not, it may be so......

.........but I've been debating the idea in a different thread from a column that was written recently that alleges that there was a rehydration clause in Pac's fight with DLH.......some feel that weighin's were moved to the day before so that fighters could fully hydrate,t hat a rehydration clause would be illegal.

......I argued that this is boxing we're talking about. The rules are broken all the time and boxing allows it to be so for the sake of getting a big fight made.

Now, if Nevada states that Welterweights shall use 10oz gloves, its certainly breaking the rules to allow fighters to use anything less than that.
Nevada adopted that rule in order to protect fighters from head trauma, their rationale being that bigger fighters punch harder and thus need bigger gloves.

If I remember correctly, the rule for 10oz gloves was adopted down to even jr. welters......I specifically remember that both Ricky Hatton and JL Castillo were forced to wear 10oz gloves for that very safety issue.

I guess when it comes to Pacquiao, those rules and stipulations can be trampled over!:nut

its like stated above. Some places allow you to use 8oz gloves at WW. However Vegas technically does not allow them.
They made an exception for Cotto-Margarito.

I think its good that they make them wear 8 oz. Its gonna make the fight more interesting. I think if anything its going to be bad for Pac. Now those counters are going to hurt more. And PBF as usual wont be eating much leather.

They already agreed to eight ounce gloves. Let me repeat:

They. Already. Agreed. To. Eight. Ounce. Gloves.

You're right, Pac does'nt even have a punchers chance if 10oz gloves are worn......

......but I'm not for allowing the rules to be broken just for specific fighters.
If they're going to break the rules here, then they should abolish that rule altogether and allow all fighters to wear the 8oz gloves if they so please.

a fighters opponent must agree to it as well. don't make it out like pac or cotto are the sole authority in here. besides the floyd-jmm fight, though it is not a title fight, used 8oz gloves?
