Lets assume Froch fights Chavez Jr. at Vegas, beats him up and then retires. How do you rate his career? would he be regarded higher than Calzaghe????
He has to fight/win in Las Vegas and then go after a Ward re-match, Wembley 90'000, Win that and he goes out higher than Calzaghe did IMO.
Calzaghes best wins Mikkell Kessler Bernard Hopkins Jeff Lacey Byron Mitchell Chris Eubank Froch's best wins Bute Pascal Kessler 2 Groves 2 Abraham
Never. Calzaghe would stand him on his head if they ever fought. Plus Calzaghe does have the better c.v and wins imo. Eubank Reid Woodhall Brewer Mitchell Lacy Bika Kessler Hopkins Jones jnr. All current or former world champions.
Calazaghe could train for 3 months and still stand Froch on his head at a catch weight. Completely different class. Froch made George Groves look like Roy Jones for 8 rounds, Calzaghe would've absolutely humiliated him. The best thing that ever happened to Carl is never getting a fight with Joe.
I'd add frochs win over taylor, (who beat lacy) would rank above a few of calzaghes, eubank was bought in at short notice for JC weren't he, still a good win, but could of been different with a 10 week training camp for CE. If Froch does avenge his other defeat to Ward, I'd say he'd have a better resume than JC and would regard him higher.
Calzaghe was undisputed at super middle. And beat the number 1 light heavy at the time. Also finished undefeated. No contest cal zagged will be known as the greater boxer.
To be fair though Calzaghe ruined Lacy long before Taylor got to him. Plus Taylor had dropped Froch and was in front when Froch finally caught up with him. Taylor was a great win imo top 5 of their wins thrown together would look something like; 1. Hopkins (Calzaghe) 2. Kessler ( Calzaghe) 3. Taylor (Froch) 4. Lacy (Calzaghe) 5. Eubank (Calzaghe) Wouldn't argue with anyone who disagrees but I think we all get caught up in Frochs resume yet forget the good fighters and imo better fighters that Joe beat.
If he could beat Ward or Kovalev or Stevenson at 175 then it would be a debate but a Chavez win wont do it for him.
